Twitter officially launches Periscope. Can it compete with Meerkat?

The popularity of the video live streaming app Meerkat is also accompanied by some complaints, such as the link being clicked is a dead link. Even so, it cannot stop Meerkat from being loved and followed. Seeing this, Twitter began to worry. It is reported that in January, Twitter acquired the streaming video live streaming app Periscope for $100 million. Today, Periscope is finally officially launched. In the iTunes App Store, the Periscope app download appears, and the header is Twitter. The Periscope app not only supports streaming video on mobile terminals, but also can be viewed on the web. (Android users, please rest assured that the Android version should be available soon~~)

In fact, Periscope is very similar to Meerkat, allowing you to share live videos. The difference is that the former can save video information for you to review later. If Periscope, with its godfather, will become a killer app, it is likely to become everyone's choice of live broadcast platform. It is worth mentioning that Meerkat is an application developed in 8 weeks, while Periscope took more than a year to develop, and many details were handled properly. Let's put it this way, Meerkat is a basic tool, while Periscope is more warm. Because the latter has interaction between users: when you like a friend, a heart will appear on the video, and at the same time, the heart you like will be seen by the next friend.

Kayvon Beykpour, co-founder of Periscope, said that this kind of interaction is conducive to increasing the relationship between users. At the same time, it is easier for users to accept and embrace this social way. At present, Periscope cannot be opened directly in the Twitter app, at least it is not the right time to integrate the two. Beykpour said that the two experiences should be separated because Periscope allows you to experience the real world in real time with vision.

Even though these seem great, Periscope and its competitors have a problem: the time-wasting problem caused by the extreme desire for user participation. Imagine that everyone you follow posts a video, and then your message notification will appear. No matter how long the video content is, you will find that it takes up a lot of time to watch it. Unlike tweets, we can glance at it and choose to read it carefully or ignore it. If it is a streaming video that cannot be played back, if you want to recall the past, you have to desperately flip through the personal homepage to find it.
