Cook says Apple Watch apps now exceed 3,500 and may be launched in more countries by the end of June

Beijing time, April 28, according to the technology blog TechCrunch, Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a conference call on Monday that the total number of applications for Apple Watch at the time of its release exceeded 3,500.

By comparison, the iPad had 1,000 apps when it launched in April 2010. The 3,500 apps for the Apple Watch are seven times the 500 apps that were available when the iPhone App Store launched in July 2008.

The Apple Watch went on sale last Friday. Starting March 31, 2015, developers can submit Apple Watch apps for review by Apple.

According to technology blog AppleInsider, Cook also said that Apple Watch will be available in more countries as early as the end of June, depending on supply.
