Will programmers be fired when they get older?

Internet companies like BAT may not recruit programmers over 35 years old, but they will not fire employees over 35 years old. This is a stupid behavior. Not only will they lose talent, but they will also lose people's hearts.

Those who were fired must have failed to improve their abilities as they grew older.

Moreover, it is not the case that programmers are doomed when they get older. I have been in this industry for 17 years, and there are too many classmates and friends around me who are old programmers over 35 years old. Just last year, a buddy of mine, 40 years old, left Microsoft and moved his family to Shenzhen. It is true that Tencent does not want people of this age, but he went to Huawei with an annual salary of 1.8 million in a few minutes...

There is always a misunderstanding in the outside world that programmers are like prostitutes, who only rely on their youth to make a living. When they get old and lose their looks, they will be eliminated.

It is true that being a programmer in China is different from being a programmer abroad, where foreigners are still typing away at code even when their beards are grey. In large domestic Internet companies, you can focus on technology and continue to follow the career path of a technical position, such as Baidu and Alibaba, but they are indeed a minority.

In China, programmers will basically move to technical management positions when they reach a certain age, such as project managers, and then take the management route, become technical directors, and become architects, reaching the peak of their lives...

What’s even more amazing is that many programmers start their own businesses while working.

Well-known ones include Ma Huateng of Tencent and Zhou Hongyi of 360 in China, and Zuckerberg of Facebook and Bill Gates of Microsoft in foreign countries...

The founders of many Internet companies are programmers. Dai Zhikang, the boss of my previous company, Discuz!, is also a programmer. There are countless small companies like this.

Some programmers may change careers based on their own career judgment at work. Some may become product managers, some may become technical instructors, etc. There is still a lot of room for career development.

Compared to selling their bodies, what is more important for programmers is to have strong logical thinking ability. The dull and loser generally regarded by the outside world is just an appearance. Programmers are the most introverted professional group on the planet.

Do you think programmers will have no food to eat when they get old?
