According to the latest test results from German security company AV Test, Google Play Protect cannot provide adequate security protection for Android devices. Play Protect is Android's built-in malware protection solution, and uses machine learning algorithms to improve in real time. Google officials said that it has provided protection for more than 2 billion devices worldwide and scanned more than 50 billion apps every day. The latest test results from the German antivirus and security testing structure AV Test show that Google Play Protect does not provide adequate protection against malware. The agency recently tested 21 mobile security products including Avast, Avira, Bitdefender, G Data and Kaspersky using a set of 2,945 newly discovered Android malware and a set of 2,709 malicious samples discovered in the past four weeks. According to the test results, Google Play Protect was the only product to receive a score of 0 in the protection category. The detection results for the latest Android malware and malicious samples from the past four weeks were 70.1% and 49.4%, respectively. The average results for all tests were 97.4% and 96.7%. Only four antivirus solutions scored below 6 points, with Google Play Protect being the only protection product to not receive any score at all. |
