With the improvement of the performance of mobile phone cameras, which are comparable to SLR cameras, the capacity of photos taken is getting larger and larger. So how can we upload these large-capacity high-definition videos to the Internet more conveniently? Recently, Facebook has open-sourced a practical tool called Spectrum. Spectrum is an image processing library for Android and iOS, which improves the reliability of uploading images while reducing the demand for traffic. Currently, many of Facebook's mobile apps have built-in Spectrum components. This image processing library can provide one-stop services such as image processing tasks (cropping, scaling, and transcoding), reducing file size, and improving reliability. The most interesting thing about Spectrum is that it does not require developers to manually define all processing behaviors step by step. Instead, the library can call the corresponding execution code based on what effect the developer wants to achieve. At the recent droidcon SF conference, Facebook announced Spectrum. The library is available for free from its GitHub page starting today. While the core of Spectrum is written in C++, Facebook has also released Java and Objective-C APIs to make it easier for developers to use the tool. |
