If developers want to build AR apps that run on iOS, Android, and HoloLens, they need cloud services that support a variety of platforms and enable developers to build immersive experiences.
In addition to the release of Azure Kinect and HoloLens 2 today, Microsoft will also launch two new Azure mixed reality services, which are designed to help every developer and every business build cross-platform, enterprise-level mixed reality applications suitable for different industry backgrounds. Azure Spatial Anchors: enables enterprises and developers to accurately map, specify, and call points that can be accessed on HoloLens, iOS, and Android devices in the mixed reality programs they create. These precise points can enable a range of scenarios from sharing mixed reality experiences to cross-spatial pathfinding. We have witnessed that this service is helping our customers in industries such as manufacturing, construction, and medical education work and learn faster and easier.
Azure Remote Rendering: Helps people experience 3D without compromising image quality, allowing them to make faster and better decisions. Today, if you want to interact with high-quality 3D models on mobile devices and mixed reality headsets, you usually need to "reduce" or simplify the 3D model to run on the target hardware. But in scenarios such as design reviews and treatment plans, every detail is important, and simplification will result in the loss of important details needed for important decisions. The service will render high-quality 3D content in the cloud and transmit it to edge devices in real time with every detail intact.
Azure Spatial Anchors is currently in public preview. Azure Remote Rendering is currently in private preview and will be available to public preview shortly. |
