Alipay Mini Program officially opens public beta to individual developers

Alipay Mini Program officially opened its public beta to individual developers on February 26. Individual users with development capabilities can visit the Alipay Mini Program platform, scan the code to verify their identity, and then apply for an Alipay Mini Program account and start code development. This is the second Mini Program platform in the industry open to individual developers after WeChat.

The development documents provided by the Alipay Mini Program show that the processes, frameworks, and development tools used by individual developers and corporate developers to develop the Alipay Mini Program are not much different, except that there are relatively fewer categories and functions.

In terms of categories, individual developers can currently develop mini-programs in six primary categories, including catering, sports, travel, express delivery and postal services, and personal skills, as well as more than 20 secondary categories on the Alipay platform. In terms of functions, individual principal accounts do not currently support payment functions.

It is reported that the Alipay Mini Program team will make dynamic adjustments to categories and functions based on actual conditions. "Alipay does not want to set too many rules and regulations for individual developers based on past experience. Instead, it hopes to allow more users to come in and hope that individual developers can give more inspiration to the platform and other similar developers in terms of creativity," said Hong Lei, a senior operations expert at Alipay.
