At Apple's 2019 fall conference held recently, Apple released the iPhone 11 series, but it does not support 5G.

This quickly became one of the focal points of discussion among netizens. Many consumers expressed regret about this, and some even complained: If you don't buy it, it will be eliminated.

After the press conference, Apple CEO Cook mentioned his views on 5G in an interview with Tencent Technology.

Cook answered bluntly that he believed that "5G is still a little ahead of its time" and not mature enough.

Cook said that Apple studied the market and found that the entire market, whether it is infrastructure or chips, is not mature enough to launch a high-quality product.

He said that Apple has changed from 2G products to 3G products, and then from 3G products to 4G products. At each stage of product transformation, some people would say that Apple should be faster and earlier. However, Apple's goal has never been to be the first. Apple's goal is to be the best, and to be the best, the technology field needs to enter a stable period.

Cook said that many countries are now launching 4G+, and even one operator in the United States has launched 5GE services. If you can make full use of the 4G network speed, you will find that there is still a lot of potential to be explored and improved under 4G. So Apple did this in the iPhone just released this year, and I believe that everyone will feel these links in the future use.

When asked to evaluate 5G in one sentence, Cook said: "The potential of 5G is huge, but there are still many problems to be solved."

In fact, as early as July this year, when Apple’s third-quarter 2019 results were released, Cook hinted that this year’s Apple phones would not support 5G networks.

"When it comes to 5G, a lot of people will tell you that we're still in the very early stages, and 5G is still in the early stages globally, and we're very happy with our current product lineup and excited about the supply chain for both hardware and software," he said on the earnings call.

At present, Apple's main competitors Samsung and Huawei have completed the layout from 5G chips to 5G mobile phone terminals, and Xiaomi, OV and other domestic mobile phone manufacturers of Qualcomm also have plans to launch 5G mobile phones this year. Therefore, it is understandable that domestic netizens are looking forward to 5G mobile phones.

But it is undeniable that 5G networks have not yet been widely popularized. Therefore, it is reasonable that Apple’s new iPhone 11 does not need to rush to launch 5G-supported mobile phone products. After all, Apple wants to serve users all over the world.
