During the long holiday, Microsoft released the Surface Duo dual-screen device. The two 5.6-inch displays expand to 8.3 inches, and the hinge supports 360-degree adjustment. As a product similar to a mobile phone but aimed at mobile office, Surface Duo is pre-installed with the deeply customized Android system in collaboration with Google, rather than Windows.

In response to this, some netizens asked on Twitter whether Surface Duo can install UWP applications? The official Windows Developer tweeted: "Don't worry, although Surface Duo is equipped with Android system, it allows you to install UWP applications on Android devices."

This reply caused a strong response from netizens. Although it is not as good as Android, UWP applications, as Microsoft's main applications, have accumulated tens of thousands of APPs, which is also a good thing for UWP developers. However, the official Twitter account later deleted this reply.

Recently, foreign media dug up more information. They found a new repository called JavaWinRT on Microsoft's official GitHub. Although there is nothing in it, the name clearly suggests that Microsoft may be considering porting WinRT to Java, which is the main programming language for Android apps.

Interestingly, Microsoft also established a core Java team.

There is no other news confirming UWP's arrival on Android yet, but let's wait and see.
