Google Maps app update: COVID-19 reminders added to Android and iOS versions

It is reported that this "transit alert" function will be enabled in the United States, Britain, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, France, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Thailand and other regions.

However, when driving, Google Maps will not display the location and restrictions of COVID-19 checkpoints on your route. The first regions to go online include the United States, Canada and Mexico.

When users search for medical facilities or COVID-19 screening sites, Google will remind users to confirm eligibility and facility guidelines.

Medical center reminders will be available in the United States, South Korea, Israel, the Philippines, and Indonesia, while testing center reminders will be available in the United States.

Finally, Google Maps has updated a feature for public transportation users around the world, providing information including temperature, accessibility, onboard security, and designated women-first areas in public transportation systems.

Users can now easily view historical busy and quiet times for bus stops to better plan their trips.
