2020 iPad durability test: still easy to bend

When the previous generations of iPad Pro were launched, many users reported that they had discovered slight bending in the body. Apple responded that slight bending was a normal phenomenon in the manufacturing process and would not affect normal use. The iPad Pro has achieved extremely thin and light technology, but the torsional rigidity of the aluminum shell is indeed limited.

Recently, the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything tested the durability of the 2020 iPad Pro. Judging from the test results, Apple has not made significant improvements in the durability of the latest 2020 iPad Pro compared to the previous generation.

The microphone hole on the side is the weak point of the 2018 iPad Pro, and the same is true for the 2020 iPad Pro. It bends easily at this location.

Beyond that, the 2020 iPad Pro uses the same screen as the previous generation, which scratched at levels 6 and 7, and the rear camera cover, which Apple says is sapphire, also scratched like glass.

Of course, regarding the problem of body bending, Apple emphasized that its manufacturing technology and inspection process can ensure that the new model meets more stringent flatness specifications than the previous model. In theory, the length deviation of any side of the body cannot exceed 400 microns.
