Apple: Users will not be forced to upgrade from iOS 14 to iOS 15

On June 8, future updates of Apple's mobile operating system iOS will provide users with two options. They can choose to get all the new features of iOS 15, or choose to get only the security updates of iOS 14.

Apple claims it is changing the way it releases iOS software updates. Instead of users being able to choose to install or not install an updated version of the system, the upcoming new version will have two options to choose from.

“When iOS 15 is released, users can choose to update to the latest version immediately to get the latest features and the most complete security updates,” Apple said in a preview of iOS 15. “At the same time, users can continue to use iOS 14 and still get important security updates until they are ready to upgrade to the next major version.”

Apple's goal is to ensure that all users get new features as soon as security updates are available, while the company also tries to avoid unforeseen vulnerabilities in iOS updates after they are released.

According to Apple's plan, all iPhone models above iPhone 6s can be updated to iOS 15.
