On July 12, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s microblog account released a message saying that after a third-party testing agency’s review and re-inspection, 18 apps have not yet completed rectification as required by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. At the same time, the Communications Administration Bureaus of Shanghai, Anhui, Guangdong, and Sichuan Province (City) found that a total of 30 apps have not yet completed rectification. The notice requires that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organize the removal of these 48 apps in accordance with the requirements of laws and normative documents such as the "Cybersecurity Law", "Regulations on the Protection of Personal Information of Telecommunications and Internet Users", and "Interim Provisions on Pre-installation and Distribution Management of Mobile Smart Terminal Application Software". Relevant app stores should immediately remove the apps on the list after the release of this notice. It is understood that in recent years, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and communications administration bureaus across the country have continuously increased their efforts to crack down on APP infringement of personal privacy, actively carried out supervision and inspection of mobile phone application software, and organized third-party testing agencies to inspect mobile phone application software, and urged companies with problems to make rectifications. If rectification is not made within the time limit, relevant disposal work will be organized in accordance with laws and regulations. Since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has successively reported and removed five batches of APPs that infringed on user rights.
