WhatsApp closed beta test of multi-device information transmission: seamless synchronization, can be used without connecting to a mobile phone

According to reports, Facebook has recently announced that it will conduct a limited closed beta test for WhatsApp's multi-device messaging feature. In the future, even if WhatsApp users' phones are out of battery, they can still use WhatsApp on up to 4 non-mobile devices after the multi-device messaging feature is officially launched.

Currently, users have to connect to their smartphones to use WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop. However, with this new feature, each device will connect to the user's WhatsApp independently while maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption.

Provides seamless synchronization and automatic device authentication

Facebook said it has developed new technology that can synchronize users' data, including contact names, chat history, and tagged information, across different devices while maintaining end-to-end encryption.

Under the new architecture, each device has its own identity key, and expands security codes and automatic device verification to prevent malicious servers from stealing user communications. However, when setting and controlling which devices are connected to the account, users still need to scan the QR code with their mobile phones to connect new devices.

The company only pointed out that it plans to conduct preliminary testing with a designated group of users in the existing Beta program, and continue to improve and add other additional features. As for when it will be officially launched, it has yet to be officially announced.
