Why Android is better than iOS? The open and free Android is more powerful.

When buying an Android phone, users actually have a wide range of products to choose from. It all comes down to you to decide which hardware features are most important. Whether you want an SD card slot for expanded storage, a headphone jack for charging and listening to music at the same time, a fingerprint reader, a larger battery, etc. Almost every Android user has the right to decide what device they use and what apps they install.

Compare that to iOS devices. You only have a maximum of 4 smartphones to choose from per year. And they are extremely expensive. Apple tends to leave you with no choice. But Android users enjoy much more freedom than just hardware. In fact, the Android operating system itself is open source. This means that developers have more freedom in making apps, such as using third-party tools for app development, and can implement many unique features that are not available on the iOS platform. Now when it comes to the operating system, Android users love its customizability. One of the most common customizations is the launcher, or what iOS users call the home screen.

Whether you want a widget-focused, grid-free launcher, a quick launcher focused on gesture controls, or a more efficient launcher that emphasizes enterprise integration, there's a custom launcher for you. However, you can also make many more changes to Android, such as the appearance of icons, keyboards, lock screens, and even set default apps. This is a level of customization that most iOS users can't even imagine. I mean, when iOS started allowing custom wallpapers in 2010. Users have been waiting for three years.

Apple has always been very conservative when it comes to customization or more advanced features, for example, the iPhone didn’t have the cut, copy, and paste feature until iOS3, which was introduced two years after the original iPhone. Many Android users at the time found this interesting because they had the feature from day one. This is also why jailbreaking iPhones has become so popular. Android is receiving features such as grouping, notifications, setting shortcuts, multitasking, quick replies, widgets, and many more. It took Apple years to implement them in iOS. Therefore, users get around the problem by jailbreaking their iPhones, which removes Apple’s restrictions and allows unauthorized software to be installed on the device. This way, iOS users can enjoy many of the advanced features that Android already has.

One thing that iPhones and Android devices have in common right now is their growing size. Today's smartphones are larger than ever before, which can make it difficult to use your phone with one hand. Over the years, Apple has taken many popular features from the jailbreak community and implemented them into iOS. Like the ability to install third-party keyboards or track battery health, this has led to jailbreaking becoming much less common than it used to be. But it's worth pointing out how long it took Apple to bring these features to iOS. For example, they launched iOS14 last year, which finally gave users the ability to set default apps, a feature that Android has had for more than a decade.

But it actually gets more ridiculous than that. Because even if Apple allows third-party default apps, they limit it to mail and browsers. Instead of implementing it throughout the operating system to include other apps like maps and music. And this is exactly what Android users are very disdainful of. They don't like the feeling of being tied to a company. After all, it's my own money to buy the phone, I can do whatever I want, and I shouldn't be tied by Apple. In the eyes of users, they should have the right to decide what to use their smartphones for and how to use them. The final decision should be made by the users themselves, not a company that sells phones. This is why Android users usually have a variety of devices from different companies. Maybe they will have a Samsung smartphone, a Xiaomi phone, a Huawei phone, a Dell laptop, and an Apple tablet. Because for them, this setup is the best fit for the needs of the masses.

Another benefit of Android being completely open is that users can access the source code of the operating system. Compared to jailbreaking on the iPhone, Android users have deeper access to the operating system. This helps overcome some of Android's shortcomings, such as receiving updates faster, removing manufacturer information, or changing software skins, removing carrier-customized software, and optimizing battery life. The last advantage of Android devices is the price. Compared to the low-cost iPhone, it is so easy to find a cheap and easy-to-use Android phone. Any brand of mobile phone in our country has a low-end cheap version and a high-end flagship version. This is also an important reason why Apple released the low-end iPhone SE.

Tim Cook said he hopes this will attract more Android users to iOS. While this may have some effect to some extent, many Android users simply think that iOS is too strict and closed, and even though iPhones are indeed cheaper than Android phones, they still refuse to switch to the platform. So I believe that both platforms have their own advantages and disadvantages. And it is up to you to decide which one is best for you.
