Meizu PRO 5: "PRO" in these 5 places

Meizu PRO 5: "PRO" in these 5 places

Simply skipping 1, 2, 3, 4 and naming the product 5 directly appeared in Meizu's new PRO series high-end product line.

The reason for this may be that, on the one hand, Meizu has previously released the MX4 Pro, and the PRO 5 is undoubtedly taking over the banner of its predecessor. On the other hand, during our experience, the Meizu PRO 5 does have five aspects that can be called "PRO".

Amplify quality workmanship

Bigger is always better. Ever since Samsung pioneered large-screen mobile phones with the Galaxy Note, the popularity of large-screen mobile phones has remained high in the market.

Meizu's 5.5-inch mobile phones have long said goodbye to small screens, and the PRO 5 has directly increased the screen size to 5.7 inches, the same as its direct competitor Xiaomi Note. And thanks to the narrow bezel design, the overall size of the PRO 5 is comparable to the 5.5-inch Apple iPhone 6s Plus.

The larger body further magnifies the all-metal craftsmanship that started with the MX5, and the meticulous workmanship is further highlighted. However, the design language of the Meizu PRO 5 is too similar to that of the MX5. Except for the newly painted LOGO on the back, most people may not be able to tell the difference between the two "Meizu 5" in appearance.

The best Android phone processor

When Qualcomm released the "hot" Snapdragon 810, people finally felt that it was the right thing for Meizu to always favor Samsung processors.

Samsung Exynos 7420 is undoubtedly the best chip option for Android smartphones. The same A57+A53 dual quad-core CPU and 8-core Mali-T760 GPU as Snapdragon 810 can not only guarantee the best performance, but also with 14nm FinFET process and 2.1GHz processor operating frequency. Meizu officially claims that compared with Snapdragon 810, Samsung Exynos 7420 processor power consumption is reduced by 35% and performance is improved by 20%.

In actual use, the powerful performance of the Meizu PRO 5 with a running score of 70,000 is beyond doubt. The heat control when running large-scale games is also quite ideal. In addition, due to the all-metal body, the heating area on the back of the machine is more evenly distributed, and there will be no overheating of any part. What is even more commendable is that under the condition of a large-screen mobile phone with a battery capacity of 3050mAh, which is not outstanding, the Meizu PRO 5 only consumes less than 15% of power in 40 minutes of large-scale games. The excellent power consumption control brought by the 14nm process has contributed greatly.

Camera "parameter stacking"

The Meizu PRO 5 camera uses Sony's top-level model IMX 230, with 21.16W pixels, contrast focus, phase focus, and laser focus. It supports up to 24 full-pixel continuous shooting per second. It can be seen that Meizu has tried its best to "pile up parameters" on the camera in order to achieve fast focusing.

Meizu has been emphasizing "imperfection" when promoting PRO 5, and this is also quite obvious in the camera. First of all, it does not support optical image stabilization. In addition, although there is sapphire glass to protect the lens, the huge protrusion on the back always makes people think that the penny I picked up on the side of the road ended up in the hands of Uncle Huang Zhang.

Actual sample photos show that in the same scene, the Meizu PRO 5 is not as bright as the iPhone 6 Plus in terms of color processing, and the overall style is a bit gloomy. Fortunately, the 21.16W pixels can still show the details of the picture quite well, and the advantage is obvious when compared with the 800W pixel iPhone.

Efficient battery performance

The inability to take advantage of Qualcomm's fast charging has made many people feel that Meizu's fast charging technology mCharge is always a little lacking. Now, Meizu PRO 5 is equipped with mCharge 2.0, which increases the charging specification to 24W, which will undoubtedly greatly change this situation.

In terms of charging speed, the 2A/12V standard charger coupled with the not-so-large battery capacity of the Meizu PRO 5 can charge from 5% remaining power to over 95% in an excellent 1 hour and 30 minutes. However, it is worth noting that if charging for a long time exceeds a certain temperature, the Meizu PRO 5 will automatically select the 18W high-speed fast charging mode.

In addition to fast charging, the Meizu PRO 5 also allows the data cable to be plugged in both directions through the USB Type-C interface and the baffle design inside the connector.

Meizu PRO 5 relies only on a 3050mAh battery, and its actual battery life performance is also satisfactory. After a day of normal use of taking photos, WeChat, and playing large-scale games for more than 1 hour, Meizu PRO 5 can still retain more than 30% of the remaining power when you get home. In addition to the more power-saving processor, I believe this is also inseparable from the updated Flyme 4.5 system's further optimization in power saving.

Of course, thanks to the AMOLED screen, the extreme power-saving mode that turns the phone screen into black and white can also allow the Meizu PRO 5 to be used longer under extreme conditions.

PRO = VIP

In addition to the product, there are other things worth noting about Meizu PRO.

In view of the high-end positioning of the PRO series products, the new PRO series flagship service established by Meizu's professional after-sales service team was also launched simultaneously with PRO 5.

According to the official introduction, if you have any questions about the PRO product in your hand, you can go to any service experience center across the country, use the green channel prepared in advance, and get a VIP service package for free.

Meizu's hotline service also provides 24/7 advanced expert technical consulting services for PRO series users, all year round, ensuring priority access. In addition, the free on-site repair service for the first use has been launched in 20 cities across the country, supporting on-site replacement and repair.

It is not enough to make the product itself better. The arrival of PRO 5 also indicates that Meizu will create a complete flagship service system for high-end users. But this is obviously more challenging than using the best processor or camera on the phone, and it also leaves more suspense for Meizu's path to the high-end market.
