Website was sued for buying and selling WeChat accounts! The court ruled: Tencent was awarded 1.09 million yuan in compensation

On October 21, it was learned from the Nanjing Trial Network that a certain website has opened a trading area, with a large amount of content providing services such as WeChat account buying and selling, WeChat assisted registration, and assisted unblocking.

Recently, Tencent sued a website operating company to court. The Nanjing Intermediate People's Court ruled in the first instance that the company had engaged in unfair competition and was required to pay 1.09 million yuan in compensation and publish a statement on the homepage of the website to eliminate the impact.

After the verdict, neither party appealed and the case is now effective.

It is understood that the website has trading areas such as WeChat account buying and selling, WeChat-assisted registration, and WeChat-assisted unblocking.

The transaction area contains a large amount of WeChat buying and selling information, such as: "Domestic real-name WeChat accounts for 15-30 days! With payment! Starting bid of 10" and "Large number of VX numbers for sale".

Tencent believes that the behavior of a certain Internet technology company has seriously affected the normal operation of the WeChat platform and damaged the healthy ecology of the WeChat platform.

Therefore, the plaintiff requested the court to order the defendant, a certain Internet technology company, to immediately cease its unfair competition, publish a public statement to eliminate the impact in a prominent position on the homepage of its official website, and compensate for the economic losses and reasonable expenses of RMB 2.1 million.

The court held that the website had damaged the legitimate rights and interests of Tencent and WeChat users.

This behavior violates Tencent's management rules for the "WeChat" product it operates, will have an adverse impact on the plaintiff's business reputation, increase Tencent's management costs and the usage risks for WeChat users, and endanger information security.

Therefore, the actions taken by the defendant, a certain Internet technology company, constitute unfair competition against Tencent.
