The "Personal Information Protection Law" was officially implemented on November 1 this year. During this period, many Internet apps have made adjustments regarding "personal information", such as providing clearer permission management entrances and clearer personal information usage rules. In the updated version 8.0.16, WeChat has added a new "Personal Information and Permissions" option and supports browsing and exporting personal information. Obviously, the newly added "Personal Information and Permissions" is a compliance adjustment made by WeChat in response to the requirements of the "Personal Information Protection Law". For example, if you want to turn off personalized advertising push, you need to enter the "WeChat Privacy Protection Guidelines" document and find the turning-off entrance in the densely packed terms and conditions. This time, "Personalized Advertising Management" is treated as a special function and is taken out separately, and users can directly turn off personalized advertising. "Personal information browsing and exporting" is also an important function of this update. In this function, users can clearly see what personal information WeChat has. Currently, there are two main types of personal information that can be viewed in WeChat. One is the information that users actively enter, such as avatars, WeChat IDs, signatures, mobile phone numbers, regions, mailing addresses, etc. The other is the information that users leave when using WeChat, including the devices they have logged into and the WeChat versions they have used. On the "Personal Information" interface, users can choose "Export Personal Information". WeChat will send the personal information to the user's mailbox in an encrypted form within 72 hours. After receiving the email, the user clicks the verification link to enter the exclusive page to view personal information at one time, or download the information package for storage. Please note that the "verification link" has a time limit and cannot be used after it expires; a password is required to open the information package, so be sure to save the password. The exported personal information is basically the same as what you see in the client. However, WeChat exports more personal information, including address book, Moments and other data. We know that the platform holds a lot of information about users, but what exactly does this information refer to? How accurate is it? Is personal information "naked" on the platform? Related questions have caused a lot of speculation. "Personal information browsing and exporting" may be understood as WeChat's response. After seeing their personal information, many users said, "WeChat has so much information about me", including my name, phone number and home address. If the account is lost, it will be very dangerous. Some users also became curious, and found that the information WeChat has is "just this", which is different from the precise user portrait they imagined. What do you think about this?
