iOS 15.4 supports unlocking with a mask: Apple finally meets the needs of iPhone users!

During the epidemic, many users very much hope that the iPhone can support facial recognition while wearing masks, and now this feature is finally here.

The iOS 15.4 beta that Apple rolled out today adds a new feature designed to allow Face ID to be used while wearing a mask and without the need for an Apple Watch for authentication.

If you opt in to the feature during setup, you will need to rescan your face for Face ID, and from then on, Face ID will be able to unlock your iPhone even if you are wearing a mask.

In the Settings app, there's a new toggle for "Use Face ID while wearing a mask" that you can turn on or off at any time if you change your mind about wearing a mask, and there's a new feature for "Add Glasses" that makes Face ID more accurate when you're wearing both glasses and a mask.

Face ID is "most accurate" when it's set to full-face recognition only. For Face ID with a mask to work, you have to look at the device for it to unlock, and it doesn't work when you're wearing sunglasses.

Some users have confirmed that this test feature can run on the iPhone 12. It is reported that only the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series smartphones support this feature, and the 2018 iPad Pro does not support this feature.
