iOS 15.6 battery life test, upgrade recommended

Well, @iAppleBytes, a YouTube blogger who has always been keen on testing the battery life performance of each new iOS version, recently conducted a comprehensive test on the battery life performance of the official version of iOS 15.6.

In order to avoid the impact of underlying optimization on battery life when upgrading to a new system, iAppleBytes officially started testing two days after the system upgrade.

The models participating in this test are the original iPhone SE, iPhone SE 2, iPhone 6s / 7 / 8 / XR / 11 / 12 / 13, a total of nine models.

The battery health of all tested models is above 90%.

The testing process is exactly the same as before. After turning off the automatic brightness of all iPhones, the brightness is adjusted to 25% and connected to the same WiFi network.

Finally, the GeekBench tool was used to test the running scores and automatic shutdown time of 9 iPhones after running iOS 15.5 and upgrading to the official version of iOS 15.6.

Simply put, it generates a benchmark by providing a consistent workload to the device and evaluating the amount of work that can be completed within a certain amount of power and the time required.

The final test results show that after upgrading to the official version of iOS 15.6, except for the iPhone 12 and iPhone SE 2, the battery life of other models has been reduced to varying degrees.

Among them, the battery life of iPhone 12 increased from 5 hours and 48 minutes with iOS 15.5 to 6 hours and 18 minutes with iOS 15.6.

The battery life of the iPhone SE has increased from 3 hours and 29 minutes on iOS 15.5 to 3 hours and 33 minutes, which is not a big difference overall.

Below are the battery life scores of various models under previous generations of systems. The higher the score, the better the battery life.

However, although tests show that after upgrading to the official version of iOS 15.6, most iPhone models experience a decrease in battery life.

However, since iAppleBytes usually only conducts a test once and does not take an average after multiple tests, the final result is inevitably subject to error.

Overall, although the battery life has decreased after upgrading to the new system, the change is not that big and it is considered to be average.

As for the problem that some friends have reported about reduced battery life after upgrading, on the one hand it may be because the model is old, and on the other hand it may be due to the underlying optimization of the device after the system upgrade.

If it's the latter, wait a few days and your battery life will return to normal.

Of course, if the official version of iOS 15.6 does have a significant reduction in battery life, I believe Apple will fix this problem by releasing iOS 15.6.1 later.
