The official version of iOS 16.3.1 is here, and several new features will be released soon!

A few days ago, Apple pushed the official version of iOS 16.3. Now there is news that Apple is preparing to release the official version of iOS 16.3.1.

According to foreign media MacRumors, Apple is preparing an iOS 16.3.1 update for the iPhone, but the specific release time is still unclear, but it is very likely to be pushed to users this month.

Prior to this, Apple also had the same log information before pushing the official versions of iOS 16.0.3 and iOS 16.1.1, so it can be regarded as a reliable indicator that Apple is about to release a software update.

It is expected that the official version of iOS 16.3.1 will not bring any new functional changes, and will mainly focus on bug fixes, stability, and security optimizations.

The official version of iOS 16.3 has been released for a while, but Apple has not yet released the iOS 16.4 beta version. This may be due to the fact that iOS 16.4 has multiple important updates. According to foreign media reports, iOS 16.4 will bring some new features, including Apple Pay Later, selecting web push notifications through the Safari browser, etc.

Safari Push Notifications

Apple previously stated that iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 will add support for basic web push notification options in 2023. Foreign media 9to5Mac speculated that the Safari push notification feature is expected to be launched in iOS 16.4.

This feature allows iPhone and iPad users to receive notifications from websites through Safari, just like notifications sent from software. As long as the website supports push notifications, a prompt will pop up asking whether to receive website push notifications to the device. If the user agrees, they can receive the latest push information from the website in real time even if the device does not open the web page.

Apple buy now, pay later service

Apple Pay Later is a feature announced at the WWDC conference in June 2022. Apple registered the "Pay Later" trademark in September last year, but it has not yet been officially launched.

Recently, Apple CEO Cook mentioned this new feature again in an interview with CNBC, confirming that the Apple Pay Later service is being tested within Apple and will be open to users soon.

Although the launch time is not specified, foreign media 9to5Mac speculates that the Apple Pay Later function will most likely be launched in the upcoming iOS 16.4. This is similar to Alipay's Huabei now. Even if it is launched, it has nothing to do with domestic users for the time being. It will only support US users at first, but we don't seem to need it.

It is expected that the official version of iOS 16.3.1 and the beta version of iOS 16.4 will be updated as early as this week.
