iOS 18 is coming, the biggest update ever!

Although there is still more than half a year away from the release of the new system iOS 18, there have been a lot of leaks about it.

Recently, MacRumors reporter Mark Gurman summarized the relevant content of iOS 18 for us in his latest tweet. He said that Apple called iOS 18 ambitious and eye-catching, and the goal is to bring a series of major new features and designs to iOS 18, as well as major improvements in performance and security.

The last major iOS update was iOS 14, which added support for home screen widgets. Subsequent updates to iOS 15, iOS 16, and iOS 17 left users with no desire to update, and iOS 18 will be the biggest version update ever for Apple's iOS system.

Mark urman said that Apple's iOS 18 and macOS 15 development delays show that Apple is being extra careful in this more critical year. Moreover, this ambitious version update is likely to bring us generative AI.

As the big language model is gaining momentum, Apple users are also looking forward to their Siri evolving as soon as possible, becoming as smart as ChatGPT and becoming a truly intelligent assistant. Except for the A series processors, the hardware performance of iPhone phones does not have many advantages at present.

Apple is adding artificial intelligence to many of its core apps, including music and productivity apps like Pages and Keynote, and Siri, our assistant, will have deeper integration with the Shortcuts automation tool.

Apple plans to integrate language models to let users of its voice assistants automate complex tasks in ways that aren’t possible today — for example, asking Siri to turn five recent photos into a GIF to send to a friend with a single command.

Apple is also investing heavily in training its own LLMs (Large Language Models), which will likely be used to transform Siri into the ultimate virtual assistant.

In addition to optimizing Siri, next year's iOS 18 will also be adapted to support the Rich Communication Services/Converged Communications (RCS) standard. Apple has announced that starting later next year, it will finally support the cross-platform messaging standard RCS in the Messages app on the iPhone.

Apple faces a tougher task on the software front in 2024. After several years of modest updates to iOS, it's time for the next version of iPhone and iPad software to be relatively groundbreaking.
