iOS 18.1 battery life test is here, Cook says the upgrade speed is very fast!

Apple pushed the official version of iOS 18.1 this week, which brought new features such as call recording, new controls in the control center, digital corner marks for lock screen messages, and drag and drop support for iPhone mirroring. So how is its battery life?

Recently, foreign blogger iAppleBytes sent us the battery life test of the official version of iOS 18.1. Let’s take a look!

The testing method is the same as before. iAppleBytes found six iPhone models, namely iPhone SE 2020, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 15, etc.

iAppleBytes still uses the battery testing function provided by the GeekBench tool to compare the running scores and automatic shutdown time of six iPhones after upgrading to the iOS 18.1 system.

Before the test, the screen brightness of each phone was adjusted to 25%, and the automatic brightness adjustment function was turned off (maintaining the same settings as when testing previous iOS versions). The battery health was basically maintained above 90%. Each iPhone ran GeekBench from a full charge until it automatically shut down.

The test results are as follows:

Compared with previous versions, the battery life of iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 11 has been slightly improved and is generally stable; the battery life of iPhone XR continues to drop to less than 5 hours, so upgrade with caution; the battery life of iPhone 13 is still the worst battery life performance of this model since the iOS 17 system; the battery life of iPhone 15 and iPhone 12 has slightly decreased.

However, it should be noted that the test results of GeekBench are different from actual daily use, so these data are for reference only. In fact, every time Apple updates a version, users will have different opinions on battery life. After all, everyone's usage is different.

Friends who have upgraded to iOS 18.1, how are you using it now? You can share your experience in the comment section!

In addition, Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a recent interview that the new Apple Intelligence feature in iOS 18.1 is driving users to update the system. Cook pointed out that users are downloading and installing iOS 18.1 twice as fast as iOS 17.1 in the same period last year.

However, the Apple Intelligence feature of iOS 18.1 is not currently supported on domestic devices. The Chinese version is expected to be released in April next year with the iOS 18 update, and the specific time of its official launch in China is still unclear (it should be after the Chinese version is supported in April). It is expected that after the AI function is launched in China, the proportion of users of the iOS 18 system will definitely rise.
