On July 8, local time, 89-year-old Warren Buffett announced that he would donate Berkshire Hathaway Inc. shares worth approximately US$2.9 billion to five charities, which means that he has donated Berkshire Hathaway Inc. shares worth approximately more than US$37 billion since 2006. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Buffett currently ranks 8th on the world's richest list with assets of US$68.6 billion, down 3 places from 5th, his lowest ranking since the index began in 2012. As technology stocks have soared in recent weeks, Warren Buffett's wealth ranking has been surpassed by former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. |
