Definition of server rental:

Server rental means that the server is provided by the IDC data center. Only one customer or website can use it by renting it, and the Internet data center manages and maintains it for the customer. After renting, you can easily enjoy a complete set of services from server equipment, computer room environment to technical maintenance.

Server rental is also aimed at some customers (especially small customers) who lack server-related knowledge, have no research on server hardware, have no experience in server selection, and hope that someone can provide one-stop IDC services.

The server rental business is an extension of the server hosting business. Customers generally only need to state their ultimate goal and pay various fees including the server purchase fee and hosting fee; then the IDC supplier will plan and implement the business for the customer, and ultimately the customer will have control of the ownership of the server. In the long-term operation process, the rental business is no longer just purchasing servers for customers, but is more inclined to the nature of leasing. The hosting fee is already included in the rental fee, which means that the IDC provider has bundled the hardware and hosting into one price. This business model has various combinations, such as multiple installment payments and no server ownership. The leasing business is a kind of business that IDC suppliers provide to customers by incorporating hardware into their product lines, bundling server selection and hosting together in a variety of ways.

Server rental is generally provided by a strong hosting service company that provides hardware and is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of basic software to ensure the normal operation of basic service functions on the server. Server rental is generally divided into whole machine rental and space rental. In the former, users have exclusive access to the resources of the entire server and develop and run programs by themselves; in the latter, multiple users share server resources, and each user uploads file content by themselves, which is managed uniformly by the service provider.
