Recently, the Beijing Wildlife Rescue Center successfully released a rescued great bustard, a Class I protected animal in China, into the wild in Miyun District.
The great bustard was discovered and reported by villagers in Jugaozhuang Village, Miyun District on October 26. The Miyun District Forestry and Parks Bureau immediately dispatched staff to the scene for emergency treatment and then transferred it to the Beijing Wildlife Rescue Center for further care. Upon examination, the great bustard had extensive subcutaneous bruising on both wings, weakness in its hind limbs making it difficult to stand, and also suffered from diarrhea. After medication and nutritional supplementation, the great bustard's condition gradually improved. Once it met the required standards for release, it was decided to release it back into the rescue center.
Currently, it is the migratory season for birds. The Beijing Municipal and District Gardening and Greening Departments have increased patrols of key areas such as wetlands, reservoirs, rivers, and parks to ensure the safe passage of migratory birds.
