Physical characteristics of Kunmingosaurus (one of the earliest sauropod dinosaurs)

In the Jurassic world of dinosaurs, there was a type of giant dinosaur. They were herbivores and lived on vast plains; these were sauropod dinosaurs.

They evolved from Triassic archosaurs and early Jurassic sauropods through long-term adaptation. They flourished exceptionally in the Late Jurassic, reaching their peak size, with lengths exceeding 30 meters and weights approaching 100 tons. Some scientists estimate that the Supersaurus, which lived in North America, could weigh up to 100 tons. It is precisely because of the existence of these enormous sauropods that dinosaurs are hailed as the "giants" of the animal kingdom throughout all geological eras, and the largest land animals.

Primitive sauropod dinosaurs appeared in the Early Jurassic period, but they were still in their infancy, with very few fossils found. They have been discovered only in Zimbabwe in Africa, Konta in India, and the Wuding Basin in Yunnan Province, my country. Typical examples include the Indian giant sauropod (Dazusaurus) and the Chinese Kunmingosaurus. These primitive sauropod dinosaurs were quadrupedal, had relatively long necks and tails, and their body structure resembled enlarged versions of ancient archaeopods. The characteristics of their skulls and teeth indicate that they were herbivorous. Scientists do indeed believe that these sauropod dinosaurs evolved from some type of archaeopod dinosaur from the Triassic period.
