16 Free Ways to Promote SaaS Overseas (Part 2)

16 Free Ways to Promote SaaS Overseas (Part 2)

Today we will continue to talk about ways to promote SaaS.

09. Cooperate with activities and give away premium membership packages

This is the most underrated way to sell a SaaS business.

But partnering with small to medium-sized events to offer their audiences discount coupons or give away premium membership packages can get you a lot of traction and eyeballs.

And it's easy to do. These events are always looking for companies that can partner with them and offer something to attend the event.

In return, they can heavily promote your product/brand on social media, which is a great branding exercise.

10. List your product on Product Hunt

G2 Crowd or Appsumo

Getting listed on Product Hunt or G2 Crowd is easy, takes only a few minutes, and is 100% free. Best of all, it gives you instant access to millions of people who are actually interested in trying new products.

G2 Crowd has nearly 500,000 user reviews of various products and business solutions.

Product Hunt has two million monthly active users.

Enough to get the initial exposure you need.

Be sure to ask your existing users to add reviews on Product Hunt or G2 Crowd. Because no matter how passionate they are about your product, they may not be as passionate about writing a review.

11. Do a webinar

Online webinars have received a huge boost. It applies to other businesses as well, and as a SaaS startup, you must try it too.

But let’s be honest, there’s a lot of work that goes into a webinar behind the scenes.

  • Come up with unique webinar topic ideas
  • Do thorough research on everything you can find online on the topic; blogs, podcasts, webinars, videos. Research them and create an updated content outline for your webinar
  • Try to think of some possible audience questions and prepare answers

The key here is to sincerely provide great value to your audience through your webinar and promote your product at the end.

12. Collaborate with influencers

Unlike larger influencers, who have the highest engagement rates on any platform, recent research from Buffer shows that “influencers with 1,000 to 5,000 followers have the highest engagement rate at 8.8%.” This is why you should be working with micro-influencers on every platform.

  • It will give you a decent engagement
  • It’s almost free, and many influencers can share your content or promote it heavily for little or no money.

There are a lot of these influencer collaborations you can do that will greatly increase your visibility.

For example, in the past few months, BlueTie has worked with many Linkedin influencers, which has brought them good traction and brand awareness.

13. Do email marketing

There’s no better way to promote your SaaS brand than with email marketing.

Look, you can’t control social media algorithms; you can’t control changes to the Google search algorithm.

But you have complete control over your email. This is the highest performing, high converting, and highly personalized way to reach your target customers.

Every contact on your email list gave their email after getting to know you. They want to receive your unique content and offers in their inbox.

It’s the best platform to truly understand your audience and connect with them one-on-one.

Another reason to start email marketing now is that it’s initially completely free and doesn’t depend on algorithm changes.

14. Create case studies

Case studies are a golden marketing strategy for SaaS companies, especially in the B2B space. After you’ve acquired some paying or unpaid users, create a case study about how your product helped your customers solve their specific problems.

This will enhance your brand image, authority, and build trust among potential customers.

Keep in mind, though, that case studies aren’t meant to drive traffic to your website, but they will definitely increase your product’s conversion rate.

What should you do?

Get close to your users and ask them in detail how they use your product in their daily lives and how exactly it helps them simplify their lives.

Most users will be happy to tell you all about a product. But if they don’t, give them a free gift or discount in return for the deal.

15. Use your competitor’s name

Do you have a lot of competitors? Then here’s a cunning way to cash in on their name.

Create some comparison articles and “alternative solutions” articles.

For example, if your product is a video calling app, you could create content comparing your product to some of your top competitors.

  • Your product vs. Zoom vs. Google Meet

Additionally, you can create other solution content such as “Best Alternatives to Zoom.”

Because let’s be honest, no one is searching for “best video calling app” right now.

Instead, most people are looking for a brand alternative. Creating these types of content is one of the best ways to rank quickly on Google.

16. Create micro-products

Micro-products are another hallmark of SaaS marketing efforts. The basic idea is to create a web-based tool that solves specific problems of potential customers.

Give it away for free, market the tool, and upsell your main product later.

Hubspot does an excellent job with their website grading tool. This tool can let you know if your website is optimized in the following ways:

  • Performance
  • SEO
  • Mobile Optimization
  • Security

When someone uses this tool, it asks for their email. And Hubspot will later sell their products through the user’s email inbox.

Summarize

If you have a great product but no money for marketing, you have to think outside the box to create a voice for your product.

Feel free to steal ideas from this list to create a marketing plan for your SaaS product.

But the most critical part is taking action. Don’t think that it’s impossible to market your product without a budget.

Yes, it will take a little longer, but it’s worth the extra work to get moving.
