Strategy Analytics: BlackBerry software deployed in more than 215 million vehicles worldwide

BlackBerry recently announced that according to statistics from the well-known independent research company Strategy Analytics, there are currently more than 215 million cars equipped with BlackBerry® QNX® software worldwide, an increase of 20 million from 2021. According to the latest announcement, as of the end of the first quarter of fiscal year 2023, BlackBerry QNX's royalty revenue backlog has increased from US$490 million last year to US$560 million, an increase of 14%.

This data is calculated annually based on the QNX royalty rate and the estimated production volume of the entire current design cycle. Recently, BlackBerry QNX has won design orders from well-known industry companies such as Aptiv, Denso, Ford Motor, General Motors, Hyundai Motor, LG Electronics, Magna and Volvo Cars. Strategy Analytics calculates the automotive installation volume of BlackBerry QNX software based on the shipment volume of BlackBerry QNX products in the automotive market and the number of cars using BlackBerry QNX products and technologies. The vast majority of BlackBerry QNX software products integrated and applied to automotive ECUs are licensed and charged on a per-unit basis.

BlackBerry QNX Software includes the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS, QNX® Platform for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, QNX® OS for Safety, QNX® Platform for Automotive Infotainment, QNX® Platform for Digital Cockpit, QNX® Hypervisor 2.2, and QNX Acoustic Middleware.
