Apple's new patent: Self-driving cars can monitor passengers' emotions and adjust driving methods

According to foreign media reports, Apple's self-driving car has added a new patent that can change the driving mode based on the emotional response of the passengers, thereby increasing the comfort of the passengers.

Earlier, Apple applied for a "Comfort Profiles" patent to the US Patent and Trademark Office, which describes a method by which autonomous driving and navigation systems can adjust the way a car drives based on parameters set indirectly by passengers.

Through front-end sensor scanning, including light scanning devices such as lidar, depth cameras and infrared cameras, all passengers in the car are identified and their data is transmitted to the driving system.

Passenger data includes eye activity (including blinking, pupil dilation and contraction), sitting posture, gestures, head position, sweating, body temperature, heart rate, etc., to build an information file for the passenger. When the car is self-driving, a series of driving settings will be changed according to the content of the file, such as adjusting the speed of straight-line driving, turning, and lane changes, especially when making large turns, the speed will be adjusted to minimize the discomfort caused by traction.
