"5G messaging" is being rapidly deployed and may become one of the first 5G personal applications

According to media reports, 5G messaging, which is regarded by the industry as WeChat's biggest competitor, is currently being rapidly promoted and is expected to become one of the first 5G applications to go online.

The concept of "5G Message" first came from the "5G Message White Paper" jointly released by the three major operators China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom and 11 partners in April 2020. It is a real-name rich media messaging service.

5G messages not only support more media formats, but also have richer forms of expression. Users can also complete one-stop business experiences such as service search, discovery, online consultation, product purchase, and online payment through the 5G message portal.

According to reports, China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom have all begun large-scale deployment of 5G messages. With the vigorous promotion of the three major operators, the construction of the industry standard system has achieved phased results. Standards such as the overall technical requirements for 5G messages, the technical requirements for 5G message terminals, and the testing methods for 5G message terminals have entered the approval stage.

5G messaging has matured from operators to terminals, and infrastructure construction is progressing steadily. At present, China Mobile is the most advanced in the construction of 5G messaging platforms. China Mobile and China Telecom are relatively behind in construction, but they will soon be ready for commercial use.

Wang Quan, vice president of ZTE Corporation, recently said that 5G messaging not only relies on the continuous optimization and improvement of operators' platform capabilities, technical capabilities, and operational capabilities, but it is far from enough to achieve results only in operators and equipment terminals. What is more important is the construction of the industrial chain and the creation of an ecosystem.

From this point of view, "5G messages" still have a long way to go before they can be officially put into use, but it is foreseeable that 5G messages, as an important application scenario of 5G, will bring a new human-computer interaction mode and build a new information service system.
