Can I change my mobile operator if my mobile number remains the same?

In the past, if friends wanted to change communication operators, many people would go to get a new number, but from December 2018, there is no need to change numbers. The three major operators can be changed freely!

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will officially launch a new number portability process on December 1, 2018. Under the new process, users only need to send text messages to complete inquiries and applications, without having to go to the business halls of various operators in person to apply!

Number portability means that users can switch to any of the three major operators at will without changing their numbers. Without changing your number, you can switch to the user of the one among the three major operators whose tariff you think is suitable for you and whose service you like. However, this service is currently only available for landline and mobile phone numbers.

In the past, if you wanted to port your number to another network, you first needed to bring your valid ID to the business hall of your current operator to check whether porting is allowed, and obtain the corresponding certificate to apply for number release. If the application is successful, you can then go to the business hall of the operator you want to use to apply for a new package service. Pick up your mobile phone and check the eligibility for portability online via SMS (edit the SMS CCXZ#username#document number and send it to the operator you belong to, for China Mobile, 10086; China Unicom, 10010; China Telecom, 10001) as shown in the figure:

The user applies for an authorization code via SMS (SMS command: SQXZ#username#ID number, sent to the operator, China Mobile 10086, China Unicom 10010, China Telecom 10001).

After receiving the authorization code, take your valid ID and authorization code to the operator you want to use to apply for a new package!
