Your phone won't charge after using it for a long time? Don't replace the dead battery. Use these three methods to activate it for free.

How to save a "starved" battery? In fact, it is very simple. Just activate the battery and it can be used normally. Here, taking the Apple mobile phone battery as an example, I will introduce to you how to activate the mobile phone battery.

Why do mobile phone batteries die?

The battery discharges itself, the battery protection board consumes power, and there is a short circuit on the mainboard. Even if the phone is not in use, the battery will consume power, causing the battery to "starve to death" when it goes into hibernation.

The battery voltage of a fully charged mobile phone is 4.2V. As the battery power is consumed, the battery voltage will also decrease. When the voltage drops to about 3.6V, the battery will start the automatic protection mode, automatically shut down the phone, and remind the user to charge the battery!

Plug in the charger, if the battery voltage is between 3.3V and 3.5V, the battery will charge normally when the battery voltage reaches 3.6V. However, if there is no response for a long time after plugging in, it means that the battery voltage is lower than 3.3V, the phone cannot start the charging process, and the battery is "starved" and seriously depleted.

How to determine if the battery has been locked?

To determine whether the battery is locked, you need a common maintenance tool - a multimeter.

How to do it:

Set the multimeter to the DC voltage range, and connect the black and red test leads to the two ends of the battery interface to measure the voltage.

Generally speaking, when the battery power of a mobile phone is at its lowest, the voltage should be around 3.5V. If the voltage is 0V or even close to 0V, it means that the battery has been locked after not being charged for a long time. At this time, it cannot be charged directly using a data cable.

You need to force a power supply to the battery and activate it before it can be charged normally.

How to distinguish the positive and negative poles of mobile phone batteries?

When activating the battery, be sure to distinguish the positive and negative poles of the battery. There are two methods here.

Method 1: Marking on the back of the battery

On the back of the phone battery, there is a plus sign and a minus sign at the position of the [trash can] icon. The + sign represents the positive pole of the battery, and the - sign represents the negative pole of the battery. When the battery is powered on, the positive pole is powered and the negative pole is grounded.

Method 2: Use a multimeter to distinguish

In actual maintenance, a multimeter can also be used to easily distinguish the positive and negative poles of the mobile phone battery.

How to do it:

If the red test lead is connected to the positive pole and the black test lead is connected to the negative pole, the multimeter will display a power supply; conversely, if the test leads are connected in reverse, the multimeter will display a negative number.

When the multimeter displays a positive number during measurement, you can determine that the end of the multimeter's red probe is connected to the positive pole of the battery, and the end of the black probe is connected to the negative pole of the battery.

How to activate a "starved" battery?

Method 1:

After we have correctly distinguished the positive and negative poles of the battery, we adjust the voltage of the adjustable power meter to 4.2V, the current to about 1A, and connect the power cord to charge the battery.

The red test lead of the power-on cable is clipped to the positive pole of the multimeter, and the black test lead of the power-on cable is clipped to the negative pole of the multimeter, and they are respectively in contact with the positive and negative poles of the battery.

Be careful not to connect the positive and negative polarities incorrectly. After the contact is good, the ammeter will display the current. Charge for about 10 seconds and the battery will be activated. At this time, use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage, it can be above 3V. At this time, use the data cable to charge the battery and it will be normal.

Method 2:

Using an adjustable power supply to activate the battery is the safest method of operation. If you don't have one, you can use a mobile phone charger or a universal charger to modify it to activate the battery. This method is very effective for most batteries. It is more suitable for old-fashioned mobile phones with removable batteries. Users of new mobile phones must first learn how to disassemble the phone. Method 1 is the safest and most effective.

Operation method: Lead out the positive and negative poles of the charger or universal charger with wires, connect the positive pole to the negative pole of the battery, and touch the positive pole of the battery with the negative pole of the power supply. Be careful to do it quickly and not touch it for a long time (three to five seconds), then the battery can be activated.

Method 3: Battery activation board

The battery activation board is the most useful one for repair shop technicians. There are many types of battery interfaces on the board. You only need to connect the battery to the board to activate it.

Note:

1. It should be noted that if the battery has bulged, it can no longer be used. It is recommended to replace the battery and do not activate it again!

2. Be careful when disassembling and installing the battery, and do not puncture the battery to avoid causing the battery to catch fire. If the positive and negative poles of the battery are connected incorrectly, the battery will be damaged. Every profession has its own expertise. It is recommended that friends who are not good at hands-on work go to a repair shop and have a professional repairman activate it.

For unused mobile phones, it is recommended to charge them regularly, every 30 to 45 days, depending on the battery level when the phone is turned off, to avoid serious battery loss. You can also put the phone in a sealed bag or box in a dry and cool place to slow down the battery consumption.

The above is the activation method of the "starved" mobile phone battery. Have you learned it?
