Gansu Province's TCM Prevention and Treatment Plan for Pneumonia Infected by the New Coronavirus (Trial)

This disease belongs to the category of "epidemic disease" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is mostly caused by exposure to warm and toxic evil, and the disease is located in the lungs. Based on the "Diagnosis and Treatment Plan for Pneumonia Caused by New Coronavirus Infection (Trial Third Edition)" of the National Health Commission, and in accordance with the regional characteristics and actual work of Gansu, this plan is formulated from the two aspects of prevention and treatment, giving full play to the idea of ​​"preventive treatment" of traditional Chinese medicine .

1. Prevention

In view of the epidemiological and pathological characteristics of pneumonia infected with the new coronavirus, based on the general population, people with weak constitutions, and people returning (coming) from Wuhan to Gansu, prevention is the main approach, and the TCM concept of "preventing disease before it occurs" is fully utilized. The following preventive measures are recommended:

1. Diet therapy

1. Dietary therapy for the general population
Tremella, lotus seeds, lily, pork ribs and yam soup: 75 grams of tremella, 100 grams of lily, 50 grams of clean yam, 500 grams of pork ribs and a few lotus seeds. Add appropriate amount of water to the above ingredients and put them into the pot. Slow cook for three hours and eat in moderation.

2. Dietary therapy for people with weak constitution who are susceptible to infection
250 grams of carrots, 250 grams of water chestnuts, 500 grams of sugarcane, 150 grams of fresh lilies, 30 grams of raw astragalus, and 4 candied dates. The above amount is suitable for 4 people. You can add some lean meat according to your personal preference. Slow cook for 3 hours. You can eat sweet or savory food.

3. People who have common cold (pneumonia) or are susceptible to pneumonia and those who have returned from Wuhan can try the following dietary therapy:

250 grams of chestnuts, 500 grams of lean pork, 300 grams of raw Job's tears, 30 grams of tangerine peel, a little salt, ginger, and fermented black beans. Peel the chestnuts, cut the pork into pieces, add salt and other seasonings, add appropriate amount of water, cook until soft and eat with soup.

2. Oral decoction

Basic prescription for prevention of the general population: Guanzhong 9-12g, Sugeng 12-15g, Dandouchi 3-6g, Jiudahuang 3-6g, Atractylodes 6-9g

Decoction method: Add 500ml of water, decoct twice, 30 minutes each time, take 200ml, take at any time.

Basic prescriptions for prevention for people with weak constitution: 15-30g raw astragalus, 15-30g stir-fried white atractylodes, 6-9g siler, 3-6g notopterygium, 10-15g perilla, and 3-6g ginger.

Decoction method: Add 500ml of water, decoct twice, 30 minutes each time, take 200ml, take at any time.

Basic prescriptions for prevention for people returning to Gansu from Wuhan: 9-12g of Guanzhong, 6-9g of Atractylodes, 6-9g of Notopterygium, 9-15g of Raw Astragalus, 3-6g of Dandouchi, and 3-6g of Ginger.

Decoction method: Add 500ml of water, decoct twice, 30 minutes each time, take 200ml, take at any time.

(3) Sachet

Basic formula: Patchouli 15-30g, Cymbidium orientale 15-30g, Borneol 6-9g, Angelica dahurica 15-30g.

The above-mentioned medicines are made into coarse powder, packed into compact small capsules and carried on the body. Individuals can make their own according to the basic recipe.

(IV) Foot bath recipe

Basic formula: Eucommia ulmoides 30-45g, Chuanduan 30-45g, Angelica sinensis 15-20g, roasted Astragalus membranaceus 30-45g, Patchouli 15-30g, and ginger 15-20g.

Usage: Add 2000ml of water, boil for 45 minutes, take the juice and put it into a bucket for foot bath. Do it twice a day, 30 minutes each time, until you start to sweat slightly all over your body.

II. Treatment

Localities can refer to the following plans for syndrome differentiation and treatment according to the condition of the disease, local climate characteristics, and different physical conditions, while paying attention to the collection and summary of relevant data on clinical diagnosis and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. All treatment prescriptions are not for prevention.

1. Warm pathogens invading the lungs

Clinical manifestations: low fever or no fever, dry cough, little sputum, dry and sore throat, headache, fatigue, skin pain, chest tightness, abdominal distension, or nausea, or loose stools. The tongue is pale red, the tongue coating is white or thin yellow and greasy, and the pulse is floating and rapid.

Treatment method: Expel pathogens from the lungs, clear away heat and remove dampness.

Recommended prescription: Ma Xing Yi Gan Tang combined with Sheng Jiang San or Da Yuan Yin; or Qiang Huo Sheng Shi Tang with modifications.

Basic prescriptions and medicines: roasted ephedra, apricot kernel, cardamom, ginger and magnolia bark, betel nut, cicada shell, forsythia, notopterygium, atractylodes, platycodon, and wine-soaked rhubarb.

2. Warmth and heat congest the lungs

Clinical manifestations: fever, thirst, no desire to drink, chest tightness and wheezing, dry throat with little sputum, poor appetite, constipation or loose stools. The tongue is red, the tongue coating is thick and greasy, and the pulse is slippery and rapid.

Treatment method: Clear away heat, detoxify, and dispel pathogens from the lungs.

Recommended prescription: Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang combined with Yin Qiao San with modifications.

Basic prescriptions and medicines: roasted ephedra, apricot kernel, gypsum, honeysuckle, forsythia, scutellaria, curcuma, thunbergii, red peony root, and arisaema.

(III) Warm poison blocking the lungs

Clinical manifestations: persistent high fever, cough with little sputum or yellow sputum, chest tightness and shortness of breath, abdominal distension and constipation. The tongue is red, the tongue coating is yellow and greasy or yellow and dry, and the pulse is slippery and rapid.

Treatment method: Clear the lungs and clear the bowels, clear away heat and detoxify.

Recommended prescription: Xuanbai Chengqi Decoction combined with Huanglian Jiedu Decoction, which can be combined with Xijiao Dihuang Decoction with modifications.

Basic prescriptions and medicines: apricot kernel, raw gypsum, arisaema, wine-soaked rhubarb, roasted ephedra, scutellaria baicalensis, buffalo horn, peach kernel, red peony root, and raw licorice.

Clinical manifestations: coma, irritability, burning sensation in the chest and abdomen, cold hands and feet, rapid breathing or need for assisted ventilation. The tongue is purple, the tongue coating is yellow-brown or dry, and the pulse is floating, large and rootless.

Recommended prescriptions: Sini plus ginseng decoction, Angong Niuhuang pills, and Zixuedan.

Basic prescription: decoction of ginseng, aconite, cornus fruit, and rhizoma cyrtonema combined with Angong Niuhuang Pills or Zixuedan for nasogastric feeding.
