7 Ways to Improve Your App’s User Experience

Nothing is more important than this, but many developers, in the rush to develop and release new applications, often overlook the most important factor in the process: users. To find out how to quickly and easily improve user experience, we asked some founders in the tech industry the following question: If you were asked to give one piece of advice to app developers who wanted to improve their user experience, what would you say? Why?Their responses were as follows: 1. Ask your siblings to test your app and then ask 10, 20 or 50 random people to try your app. Keep track of them and ask them to be honest with you about how they are feeling. Listen carefully to their perceptions and opinions, and observe how they use the app, paying special attention to what they are most dissatisfied with. You and your team may be working on hypotheses to improve your app, but the feedback from these testers is more in-depth than most analytics software can provide. 2. Think from the user's perspective and experience the application from the user's point of view, forcing yourself to think like an application user. Put yourself in the user's shoes and, of course, use your app as much as possible. We’ve been doing that lately because now they usually order in their cars. We must think outside the box and think like a driver. This is a challenge, and one of the secrets to developing the best apps. 3. Think like a user. This seems to be a cliché and everyone seems to know it, but it is indeed the best way to improve user experience. But when it comes to efficiency, it is not enough to just think about how to achieve user-friendliness through the layout of various items, functions and buttons on the page. You have to think about how users want to use your app and then work hard to accommodate them. You have to think about how your app will be used in real life, not just how users will tap the screen. Also, you have to consider how other apps they use may influence their behavior. By following these two principles, you can create a more intuitive and user-friendly experience. 4. Seek user feedback before making changes to the app. Seeking user feedback before making changes to the app is the best way to improve the user experience. In-app analytics may not fully reflect its greatest impact on users or the greatest help it can provide to users. A different perspective can help you solve problems in new ways, and sometimes you may find that your application doesn't need as much improvement as you originally thought. 5. Elderly Testing Not long ago, the testing of most things would ask a question: "Can an 8-year-old use and understand it?" For applications, a more applicable question is: "Can an 81-year-old use and understand it?" You must use this question to improve your user experience. If an 81-year-old loves using your app, then everyone will love it. 6. Focus on providing the most useful features. It is easy for developers to fall into a trap called "feature creep" when developing applications. Developers always want to add more new features to the user experience, but this is not right. You should learn to say "no" to new features and focus on providing the most useful features for users. A limited number of powerful features is better than a large number of features that are not specialized. 7. Integrate form and spirit, integrate appearance and function. You must be both a programmer and a user interface designer to provide the best user experience through your product. Programmers can ensure the logical rationality of the structure, while designers can ensure the characteristics of the artificial aesthetics of the application. Of course, you’ll still need to test your product, but starting with both form and function will at least ensure you’re making an informed decision. |
