Many merger and acquisition cases are like a ceremony to clean up the battlefield after a war, marking the next node for the previous war. Perhaps this also means that the next battle is about to start... After the big battle at the beginning of the year, the list for the second quarter of 2016 is more like a report of achievements.  Report Highlights 1. Live streaming apps are on the rise: Huya Live successfully made it onto the video list, becoming the first live streaming app on the list; while YY Live, Inke Live , and Huajiao Live successfully made it into the top 10 of the social list. 2. The activity of stock trading apps is declining, and bank clients are slowly taking over the financial management market. 3. Faceu, the champion of the February growth list, grew strongly again and successfully made the list, becoming an emerging force in the picture category. 4. Tencent’s game publishing and promotion capabilities are among the best in China. Carrot Defenders 3 entered the top 10 games category just one month after its launch. one. App Category Ranking Video  The top three position is firmly established. Live broadcasting app enters the list for the first time 1. Similar to the rankings in the first quarter, iQiyi is still at the top and ranks first among video apps. The top three positions of iQiyi, Tencent Video, and Youku Video remain constant, and their relative positions remain unchanged. 2. Among the top three, Tencent Video’s active penetration rate is almost the same as that of iQiyi. Like the first quarter, Youku Video’s active penetration rate is about half of the previous two. Alipay remains a market giant and its dominant position has never been shaken. 2. The decline in activity of stock trading apps such as Tonghuashun and Dazhihui has caused their rankings to drop in the list, and Eastmoney has even fallen out of the top 10. This may be due to the impact of the sluggish stock market in the past six months. As the stock market reached 3,000 points in early July, the activity of stock trading apps may pick up slightly. 3. The increase in the activity of bank clients may also be related to the sluggish stock market, which has caused users to stop speculating in stocks and instead invest in bank financial products. 

 Music  Content is still an important factor affecting users 1. The ocean series of Kugou + Kuwo is still the protagonist of the market. Kugou has almost twice as many active users as the second-place QQ Music. However, after a series of competitive battles, QQ Music recently announced its merger with Kugou and Kuwo’s Ocean system, combining the top three on the list into one to form a super giant. This may be because QQ Music and Ocean Music have greater ambitions, or it may be because the music market is difficult to make profits. Cheetah Global Think Tank will continue to pay attention to the future direction of the market. 2. Ximalaya FM, a radio station, has risen rapidly and ranked fourth on the list. This is consistent with the predictions made in the Cheetah Global Think Tank's first quarter rankings, indicating that people's habits of listening to online music are changing. 3. The most important factor affecting the user activity of music apps is the content of the platform. For example, Tiantian Dongting (now renamed Ali Planet), which was ranked fourth in the first quarter, saw a significant decline in activity due to copyright litigation, and was only ranked eighth in the second quarter. Social WeChat’s status as the king remains unchanged, live streaming social apps are on the rise 1. Live streaming social apps represented by YY Live, Yingke Live, and Huajiao Live are on the rise. The number of users of this type of apps is gradually increasing, and the three have also entered the top ten of the social app list. People's habits are gradually being changed by live streaming. In addition to social interaction, live streaming still has a lot of room for imagination. WeChat, QQ, and QQ Space occupy more than 80% of the market and are the absolute dominant force. Among them, WeChat is not only the number one social app, but also the number one in the Top 100 Chinese App List. E-commerce  Taobao dominates the e-commerce field 1. Taobao is still the big brother in the e-commerce field, and the gap with the second place JD.com is still obvious. 2. The 10th place on the list has become Fanli.com. Jumei Youpin, which was ranked 10th on the list in the first quarter, declined sharply and fell out of the top 10. This is most likely due to the impact of its privatization turmoil on Jumei Youpin. The rest of the e-commerce market was relatively flat, with the rankings of various apps and the ratio of active users having barely changed compared to the first quarter. News and Information  Personalized recommendations compete with portal clients 1. UC Headlines is a personalized news recommendation app created by the UC Browser team. Since it became an independent app from UC Browser in late April and early May, UC Headlines has rapidly climbed with the momentum of a newborn calf and acquired a large number of users in a short period of time. Today, UC Headlines has replaced Flipboard and become the ninth among the Top 10 news clients. 2. As predicted in Cheetah Global Think Tank’s 2015 year-end report, personalization has become a trend in news. There are 4 personalized recommendation apps in the list, one more than in the first quarter, UC Toutiao; while portal clients maintained the trend of the first quarter, with 5 apps on the list. In addition, there is not much change in the apps on the list and their relative rankings, indicating that the market as a whole has gotten rid of the chaotic state. The current market has formed a situation where personalized recommendations and portal clients compete with each other, and the overall pattern is stabilizing. Photo shooting Faceu becomes a dark horse with strong growth 1. As in the first quarter, four products of Meitu Inc., namely Beauty Camera, Meitu XiuXiu , Beauty Camera, and Meipai, entered the top ten and are the absolute main force in the current photo-taking App market. 2. Faceu is a special effects camera that focuses on facial recognition and real-time filters. In the "China/Global App February Growth List (click to view)" of Cheetah Global Think Tank, Faceu was ranked as the top growth app in China in February with an increase of 8,000%. In the second quarter, Faceu also grew rapidly and ranked ninth on the list. This may be related to the social "Meet Cute Friends" function that it launched, which allows users to add people nearby as friends by shaking and flipping through photos and videos. If two people like each other's posts, they can start further communication. Also in April, Faceu cooperated with Huajiao Live to apply facial recognition technology to Huajiao Live, providing users with more interesting gameplay. Travel 

 Uber and Yidao saw small growth, but it was difficult to shake Didi's dominance 1. Cheetah Global Think Tank released the "2015 China Taxi APP Ranking (click to view)" in January. At that time, Didi Chuxing had 7 times more active users than Uber, with a market share of over 70%, and Didi Hitch ranked third. In the current market, Didi Chuxing is still a giant in the market, with active users accounting for more than 70%. However, Didi Chuxing's biggest competitor, Uber, has grown rapidly compared to six months ago, and its active users have now shrunk to one-quarter of Didi Chuxing's. 2. After half a year of fierce competition, Yidao has jumped from the sixth place six months ago to the third place. This may be because after being acquired by LeTV, Yidao launched a new round of activities such as recharge to get hardware, recharge to get coupons, etc., thus attracting a large number of users. two. Game Rankings  Happy Match 3 successfully defended the first place in the first quarter list, and judging from the data, the gap between it and the second place is quite obvious. Perhaps Happy Match will remain at the top of the list for a while.  Battle of Balls becomes a dark horse and has risen significantly in the first quarter's list. Giant Network's Battle of Balls, as a dark horse, once occupied the 7th place. In the first quarter, Battle of Balls continued to gain momentum and directly rose to the 4th place, catching up with QQ Happy Landlord. Tencent still dominates the domestic game market. Among the top ten, Tencent has 6 games on the list, making it the publisher with the most games on the list. Among them, "Protect Carrot 3" was officially launched in mid-June. It was less than a month online, but by the end of June, it had already entered the Top 10 of the game list.
