Over the past weekend, we monitored that some changes had quietly taken place in the App Store, which were mainly reflected in the keyword algorithm. We observed two obvious phenomena: a general increase in keyword popularity and a general increase in App keyword coverage . Phenomenon 1: Rising popularity

From today's Chinese search index rankings, we can see that the search indexes of many keywords have risen to more than 10,000. For CPs who are familiar with the search index, this is an obvious anomaly, because it was impossible to have so many keywords with such high search indexes before. This change mainly occurred from February 10 to 11, and there were also small data fluctuations afterwards. Therefore, we counted the number of keywords in each search index range on February 9 and 13, in China and the United States, and found that the overall capacity of the keyword library and the number of keywords in the high-index range have expanded significantly.

In addition, today (February 13), the average popularity of the top 100 keywords in China is 10530.21, while the average popularity of these words was only 6932.43 on February 9, an increase of 51.9%; the average popularity of the top 100 keywords in the United States today and on February 9 were 9113.93 and 5201.643 respectively, an increase of 75.2%.

Phenomenon 2: Increased coverage Another phenomenon is that the keyword coverage of many apps has improved.

Faceu's keyword coverage history

Meituan 's keyword coverage history uses the current top 150 apps as statistical samples. The average keyword coverage of these 150 apps has maintained a continuous upward trend in the past five days, especially on February 10/11/12.

Moreover, among these newly added keywords, we observed that there were many mistyped "keywords with typos", which rarely occurred before. For example, the new keyword list of "Faceu cute" is as shown below. Chicken cute, machine cute, chicken cute camera, machine cute camera and facu are all keywords that were mistakenly entered: Meituan’s new keyword list is even more spectacular, including “misspelled keywords” such as “meituan”, “meituan”, “mituan”, “mituan”, “maituan”, “meit”, etc.:

in conclusion Based on the above phenomenon, it is not difficult to conclude that Apple is adjusting its keyword algorithm again: On the one hand, the search index has risen across the board, affecting everyone's judgment on the actual popularity and volume effect of keywords , but it should not be difficult to estimate based on the historical trends of the words and delivery experience; On the other hand, the coverage of "typo keywords" is an opportunity for ASO er to gain position and traffic, and it may also be a signal that Apple ASM is preparing to go online in China, because typos are very similar to fuzzy matches in search ads - If Apple wants to open search ads in China, it must work hard in the field of Chinese semantics.
