The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will be held in the second half of 2022.

From November 8 to 11, 2021, the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held. The plenary session decided that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will be held in Beijing in the second half of 2022.

The plenary session believes that the whole Party must unite and lead the people of all ethnic groups in the country to overcome difficulties, forge ahead, make new and greater contributions to the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country, win the great victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Party with outstanding achievements.

Article 18 of the Party Constitution stipulates that the National Congress of the Party is held every five years and is convened by the Central Committee. The Party Constitution stipulates that the powers of the National Congress of the Party are:

(3) To discuss and decide on major Party issues;

(4) amending the Party Constitution;

(5) electing the Central Committee;

(6) Election of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
