The nine characters of Chinese Taoism originated from Baopuzi Neipian Dengshe by Ge Hong in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The nine characters are “Lin, Bing, Dou, Zhe, Jie, Zhen, Lie, Qian, Xing”, corresponding to which are nine hand seals. The diagram is as follows:
