A brief talk about short video production, marketing and monetization!

Before the Spring Festival, I knew about Kuaishou, but I didn’t post a video. Kuaishou has now released multiple videos and has opened the live broadcast function. You can also sell goods directly through Kuaishou live streaming!

Regarding Tik Tok, I actually wrote about how to play it a long time ago, but I only started to take it seriously in the last month. I have done three live broadcasts so far, and the income is not much, just over 100 yuan.

Regarding Bilibili, I did a live broadcast. It is more like a medium-length video with a high entry threshold. It is used for learning and is not used for traffic generation or monetization. We have tested Zhihu videos, Xiaohongshu videos, and even official account videos. Zhihu videos are pretty good at recommending good things.

If we say that short videos are the most fulfilling, it must be WeChat Video Account. Not all of them are open yet, but my video account: Baiyang SEO has more than 100 followers, and several of them have thousands of views. I get new followers for my official account every day.

OK, as for Baiyang, he is definitely not outstanding. Like everyone else, an ordinary short video user. I said in the Douyin live broadcast (I have done it once before on Business News, Bilibili, and Kuaishou) that in fact everyone can live broadcast, and in the future it is possible that everyone will live broadcast.

Applying this sentence to short videos, or as Zhang Xiaolong calls it, short content, actually everyone can do it. It’s not like writing graphic articles, there are thousands of them and many people can’t write them. But post a video or a few pictures so that everyone can participate.

Why might development shift from text and pictures to videos? Because of one word: lazy!

Short video production

Short video production is mainly divided into three steps: determining the theme, short video shooting, and short video processing.

1. Determine the short video theme

In fact, this is very important. Many people say that I have an account on a short video platform, but I don’t know what to post? Here we need to talk about the initial account positioning and planning.

Just use account positioning to study peers or competitors. For example, if you want to create a tea Douyin account, then you can directly search for the names, profiles, and the three videos with the most likes of the top 10 tea accounts on Douyin.

Look at more, and then combine it with your product and you will find your positioning. After finding it, set a one-year or half-year goal. Then determine the theme for each month so you know what to shoot.

2. Short video shooting

Many people think that I don’t have a good camera for shooting short videos. In fact, you can just use your mobile phone. As for which mobile phone to use, I won’t recommend one. Bai Yang uses an iPhone X, and the video quality is pretty good. I heard that many domestic mobile phones are better than Apple, right?

In addition, short video shooting requires a tripod. In fact, Bai Yang thinks that if you have enough money, you can buy a better fixed machine including lighting and so on. If it is simple, an ordinary one will be fine.

When shooting short videos, some people use beauty tools directly, such as Meitu XiuXiu, Meipai, etc.

3. Short video processing

Short video processing can be understood as short video post-production. It mainly includes editing, dubbing, text addition, insertion of pictures or advertisements, special effects, etc.

If you are an ordinary person like me, I recommend you to use the simplest video editing tool on your mobile phone - [Jianying]. I heard that it is an official product of Tik Tok. After using it three times, you will know how useful it is.

As for the computer, I recommend [Huisheng Huiying] or what they call PR, or VEGRS. However, the difficulty of getting started with these is not low. If you want to learn, I recommend you to search for videos on Bilibili and learn from them.

Short videos build brands

Building a brand through short videos is actually what we call IP, which does not refer to the IP in traffic. You can also understand it as a brand symbol. For a company, it is called corporate brand; for an individual, it is called personal IP or personal image.

In the past, when we built our personal IP, we usually relied on pictures and texts, or endorsements from big names. Corporate IP relies on spending money on advertising. For example, someone spent a lot of money on a second-hand car, elevator and subway. However, making short videos and investing money can achieve wider dissemination than offline dissemination.

I won’t give examples for companies, as there are too many to list if you search online. As for whether it is suitable for your company, it depends on the specific circumstances. 1. Choose a short video platform that suits you

4. Short video operations must be planned and updated regularly

Many people run short video business for three days and rest for two days, or even take a long time to post. If you decide to do it, you must maintain a stable frequency. For example, the Baiyang SEO public account has been in operation for more than two years, and has never stopped updating for a week, maintaining at least one original article per week.

In addition, when it comes to short video sales. Mainly short videos to promote products. You can pay it back on both Kuaishou and Douyin, but you have to meet the conditions. Video accounts are not available for the time being, but you can use video accounts to direct traffic to official accounts and sell goods in official accounts.

Short video monetization to make money

Finally, Bai Yang talks about how to monetize and make money from short videos? Bai Yang mentioned three methods during the live broadcast, and I’d like to share them with you here!

1. Make money from advertising

This goes without saying, almost all Internet products have gone through this stage. Whether it is Baidu, Alibaba, or Tencent, they all make too much money from advertising. For example, many of the big accounts on Tik Tok still accept advertisements to make money.

As for some smaller Tik Tok accounts, which are relatively small and have more fans than the average person, it is more difficult for them to rely on advertising, so they usually make money by promoting products or hawking goods.

2. Make money by bringing (selling) goods

Once you have made a success of short videos and have traffic, you must think about monetization. For example, public accounts rely on advertising, and there are also people who promote products later. The same goes for short videos.

I don’t know if you have seen the kitchen window product recommendations on Kuaishou, Douyin, and even Zhihu. As for the conversion rate, it depends on the overall appeal of your video. Of course, traffic is also necessary.

3. Earn money through training

Bai Yang doesn’t need to explain this. I think everyone has heard the story of the water seller. You go pan for gold, but you have to drink water. I don’t care whether you find gold or not, I made money by selling water anyway.
