12 Best-selling Laundry Detergents Review: Here Comes the Nemesis of Oil, Milk, Blood and Sweat Stains

12 Best-selling Laundry Detergents Review: Here Comes the Nemesis of Oil, Milk, Blood and Sweat Stains

In order to help you choose the best laundry detergent, we selected 12 commonly used laundry detergents for evaluation. Among them are the best-selling ones, the legendary fragrance substitutes, and the welfare products often issued by the company (crazy hint to Wei Lao Dad).

The sample fee for this evaluation is 672 yuan + the testing fee is 27646 yuan = 28318 yuan

We evaluated the three major dimensions of cleaning ability, irritation, and fragrance, and finally recommended the following:

After reading this review, you can go wild and stock up on laundry detergent. You can easily get 8kg and 16kg sets.

At the same time, at the end of the article, there is a guide on the use of laundry detergent prepared by a thoughtful researcher - how much to put, can it be used with disinfectant... It can help you solve your laundry problems in one go, don't miss it.

1. Cleaning power I wonder if you have the same worries as the editor lady of Dad Review: when eating hot pot, white clothes will be splashed with oil; on rainy days, trouser legs will be splashed with mud; after sleeping for a long time, the pillowcase will turn yellow.

Only laundry detergent with good cleaning power can solve these "unexpected disasters".

01 Active matter content Active matter content tests the content of all surfactants in laundry detergent. When washing clothes, active matter will combine with stains and remove stains from clothes.

According to the QB T 1224-2012 "Liquid Detergents for Clothing", the total active matter content of ordinary laundry detergents should be greater than or equal to 15%. The total active matter content of the 12 laundry detergents is as follows:

Except for No. 4, the other 11 laundry detergents met the standards.

However, when choosing laundry detergent, there is no need to excessively pursue a high content of active ingredients, because different active ingredients have different abilities to remove stains, and the formulas of different surfactants are the unspoken secrets of each laundry detergent manufacturer.

02 Detergent power: Oil, blood, milk, sweat...How does laundry detergent perform when faced with these stubborn stains?

According to GB/T 13174-2021 "Determination of the Detergent Power and Cycle Washing Performance of Detergents for Clothes", the laboratory tested the detergency of 11 laundry detergents (No. 4 has a low content of active ingredients and was eliminated from this round).

The laboratory uses three kinds of dirty cloth to simulate mixed oil stains, protein stains and human sebum. At a certain temperature and time, the dirty cloth is washed with laundry detergent, and the whiteness value of the test piece before and after washing is measured at a selected wavelength using a whiteness meter to obtain the decontamination value.

Dirty cloth cleaning process

The ratio of the detergent's stain removal value to the standard detergent's stain removal value was calculated to obtain the following data. The larger the value, the better the detergent's ability to remove this type of stain.

The results are as follows:

The ones with stronger comprehensive detergency are No. 6, No. 3, No. 11 and No. 7.

03 Fluorescent agent When we were collecting everyone’s concerns about laundry detergent, we found that many friends were afraid of fluorescent agents.

Some laundry detergent merchants also like to advertise that their laundry detergents do not contain fluorescent agents.

In fact, the absence of fluorescent agent is just a gimmick of merchants. Laundry detergent containing fluorescent brightener can make light-colored clothes more vivid and solve the yellowing problem. It can absorb ultraviolet light and emit blue light, which complements the yellow light on the clothes and has a whitening effect.

Numerous domestic and foreign studies have shown that fluorescent whitening agents in laundry detergents do not cause harm to the human body.

The laboratory tested 12 laundry detergents for the presence of fluorescent brighteners.

The results are as follows:

Friends who wear more light-colored clothes can choose No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5. Friends with oily skin and clothes that turn yellow easily can also choose these (young people can arrange them for themselves).

2. Irritation: Many mothers still maintain the tradition of hand-washing clothes at home, and require everyone in the family to wash clothes by hand.

Some friends also think that washing machines for outerwear and outer trousers are not so clean, and they like to wash autumn clothes and trousers worn next to the body in winter by hand. This requires that the laundry detergent does not hurt the hands and does not contain harmful substances.

01 pH value: The surface of healthy hand skin is slightly acidic, with a pH of about 5.5, generally 5.0-7.0. Therefore, laundry detergent with a neutral pH is relatively mild and less irritating to the hands.

According to GB/T 6368-2008 "Potentiometric method for determination of pH value of aqueous surfactant solutions", the laboratory measured the pH value of 1% laundry detergent aqueous solution at 25 °C.

It can be seen that some laundry detergents are really not suitable for hand washing:

Friends who want to wash by hand can consider No. 9, No. 10, and No. 12. Although the pH value of No. 4 is not high, considering the lower content of active ingredients, hand washing is not recommended.

02 Harmful environmental hormone residues Alkylphenol and alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ether are environmental hormones that are harmful to our health. Some laundry detergents use them as the main surfactant.

We washed brand new white short-sleeved shirts with 12 types of laundry detergents, dried them, and sent them to the laboratory to test whether there were any residues of alkylphenol and alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ether on the clothes.

Take 3 ml of laundry detergent, add 3 liters of normal temperature water, soak a brand new white short-sleeved shirt for 5 minutes, scrub manually for 2 minutes. Rinse twice with 3 liters of normal temperature water, and wring dry manually.

Results: No alkylphenols and alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ethers were detected in any of the 12 pieces of clothing.

3. Aroma Aroma can be said to be the most affected area of laundry detergent. On the grass-growing software, laundry detergent does not seem to be used for washing clothes, but a cheap and large bowl of perfume.

The No. 12 we chose this time was described by different bloggers as a good alternative to Darjeeling tea and Jiqing. This made us very curious about what these laundry detergents taste like?

We asked three colleagues who thought they had a keen sense of smell to describe the smell of these laundry detergents:

After smelling all 12 products, the straight women in the office said that they really couldn't smell any perfume. The alternation of fragrances may be another trick of the merchants. If you really care about the smell of laundry detergent, you can buy a small package first to try.

Here I would like to remind everyone about the amount of laundry detergent to use. If your laundry detergent always leaves a strong odor, you may have put too much.

Based on cleaning power, irritation and fragrance, we recommend the following laundry detergents, you can choose according to your needs:
