Review of 16 children's face creams: Dryness, redness, and peeling, your child's face is finally saved!

Review of 16 children's face creams: Dryness, redness, and peeling, your child's face is finally saved!

In autumn and winter, the weather becomes dry and cold, and children's faces are inevitably rough, dry, and red...

Compared with adults, children's skin is more delicate, so facial creams should not be used carelessly. Some children's facial creams not only fail to solve the above problems, but may also cause your child to have allergies? Black face?

The children's facial creams on the market are constantly being updated. We once again selected 16 popular models for evaluation, including old domestic brands, emerging domestic brands, and imported products.

The sample fee for this evaluation is 4641.2 yuan + the testing fee is 36804 yuan = 41445.2 yuan. Based on the evaluation of safety, moisturizing effect, stickiness and ductility, Dad's evaluation finally recommends:

What are the specific performances of various children's face creams? Why do some children have allergies and black faces? Let's take a look at it together——

Faced with the wide variety of children's facial creams on the market, it is more realistic to look at the ingredient list than the fancy packaging and exaggerated slogans.

As soon as the delivery of face cream arrived, the female daily chemical researcher checked the ingredient lists one by one.

No. 7 and No. 15 contain 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol and bis(hydroxymethyl)imidazolidinyl urea respectively, which may pose a risk of releasing trace amounts of formaldehyde. Propylparaben is a long-chain paraben preservative, so babies with sensitive skin should pay attention.

In addition, the researcher also discovered some gratifying changes.

In last year’s review, No. 1 contained the risky preservative propylparaben, but this year it is no longer in its formula.

This is also the reason why we review children's creams every year, and we hope to promote product upgrades.

When choosing children's facial cream, parents can consider the ingredients as the first criterion and say no to irritating ingredients.

We have also compiled some blacklist ingredients at the end of the article, you can join the group to check. If you still have questions about the ingredients, there are daily chemical experts in the group to answer your questions.

At the beginning of the year, we exposed a facial cream with a "Xiao" mark that contained hormones. Although the samples we purchased this time were all "Zhuang" marks, which generally do not contain hormones, for peace of mind, we still sent these 16 facial creams to the laboratory for testing of 41 glucocorticoids.

As a result, none of the 16 facial creams were detected.

The parents who participated in Dad Review can be said to be very careful. Two-thirds of them prefer fragrance-free products, but there are also parents who worry a lot about getting their children to love applying facial cream.

The fragrance in facial cream is indeed an ingredient that may cause allergies.

EU Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 stipulates that leave-on cosmetics, such as lotions, emulsions, and creams, must indicate the fragrance concentration in the product on the label when it exceeds 10 ppm (mg/kg). There is currently no such requirement in China.

We sent 8 creams containing fragrances to the laboratory and tested 26 EU allergens. The results are as follows:

If your baby has sensitive skin, it is not recommended to use these creams. However, parents who are using these creams on their children do not need to worry. If the child is not allergic, they can continue to use them.

Here I would like to emphasize that before children use a new facial cream, it is important to conduct an allergy test.

After talking about safety, let’s take a look at the moisturizing effect that everyone cares about most.

Eczema, chapped skin, peeling and other skin problems that keep recurring are all caused by dryness!

Therefore, we recruited volunteers in our company to go to the Shanghai laboratory to do moisturizing tests.

With reference to "QB/T 4256-2011 Cosmetic Moisturizing Efficacy Evaluation Guide", the German CK-CM825 skin moisture testing system was used for testing in the efficacy laboratory. The product was applied in a constant temperature and humidity room (temperature 20℃~22℃, humidity 40%~60%), and the skin moisture was tested after 2 hours and 4 hours respectively to evaluate the moisture changes of the product.

The moisturizing effects of the 15 facial creams are as follows:

It can be seen that No. 11, No. 6, No. 8, and No. 10 have better moisturizing effects; No. 4, No. 9, and No. 13 are also okay.

I bought a facial cream that didn’t feel good on the skin. My child didn’t like having his face covered in lard, and my parents couldn’t keep applying it to their child for a long time, so it ended up being unused.

And leaving it idle is a waste of money!

Eight volunteers were selected for the stickiness experiment. Four frames (3 cm * 3 cm) were drawn on each arm. 0.02 g of facial cream was applied in each frame, and a handful of paper was sprinkled at the same height.

Finally, calculate the number of paper pieces in the 4 boxes and take the average value. The fewer the number of paper pieces, the more refreshing and less sticky the cream is.

The experimental results are as follows:

It can be seen that the ones with better skin feel are No. 11, No. 10, No. 4, No. 3, No. 6, and No. 8.

Every mother who has forced her child to apply facial cream knows that spreadability is extremely important!

This determines whether you should hold it for 30 seconds or 1 minute. If some products are difficult to spread, you need to apply them vigorously, rubbing the child's face as if you were kneading dough.

To judge the ductility, we chose the weight experiment that failed in the lipstick evaluation. Children's cream is relatively smoother, and the experiment can better reflect the ductility.

Take 0.05 g of the facial cream sample and spread it evenly on the bottom of a 100 g weight with a diameter of 2.6 cm. Place the weight lightly on the top of a glass plate with the same inclination angle. Allow the sample to spread on the glass plate under the pressure of the weight. Measure the distance the facial cream spreads and slide it down four times to take the average value.

The longer the distance the cream spreads on the glass plate, the easier it is to spread. The spreadability of the 14 children's creams varies greatly -

The ones that are easier to apply are No. 2, 14, 9, and 12. Parents who want to quickly apply facial cream to their children can pay special attention to this indicator.

In order to obtain more real usage experience, this trial of children's facial cream not only recruited babies from 30 company colleagues, but also invited parents in the Dad Review mother and baby group to share their experience of using the children's facial cream.

A total of 2,568 parents recommended or complained about the facial creams they used on their children. Thank you for their support for this article.

Considering safety, moisturizing effect, stickiness and ductility, we finally recommend:

Finally, we would like to talk about allergies and dark face issues that many parents are concerned about.

During the trial period, the baby of a colleague in the company also developed allergies. The stratum corneum and epidermis of infants and young children are thinner than those of adults, and they react more strongly to allergic substances.

If you want your child not to suffer, no matter which cream you choose, you must do an allergy test!!!

Take a small amount of cream and apply it behind the child's ear or inside the wrist for trial. Use it again if there is no allergic reaction.

Another issue that worries parents is that their children’s faces get dark after using facial cream.

I applied sunscreen, but why did my baby's skin become darker? Is there something bad in the face cream?

We have consulted relevant experts on this issue, but unfortunately, there is no conclusion yet.

Having said so much, I just hope that our children can have a fair and rosy face this winter.

What face cream do your kids use? Is there anything you want to complain about? Are there any other children's products you want us to review? Please leave us a message.
