When people reach 60 years old, some abnormal indicators may not be caused by illness, but just old age.

A 60-year-old man took a medical examination form and asked Huazi if he had a "serious illness" and asked him to prescribe some medicine. Huazi looked at his examination results and found that his blood pressure, blood lipids, and blood sugar were slightly elevated, there were a few small plaques in his carotid artery, and his prostate was slightly enlarged, but there were no other major problems.

Huazi told the old man that his "illness" was not a disease, but just getting old. We should pay attention to our health and prevent diseases, but not over-treat them, and learn to accept our aging.

1. Accept your own aging. Everyone will grow old, and with aging, the functions of body organs will gradually deteriorate. However, you won’t feel it obviously in your youth and middle age. Generally speaking, most people will feel that they are unable to do many things until they are 55 to 65 years old.

This stage is the transition from middle age to old age, and the functions of the body's circulation, nerves, digestion, movement and other systems will show obvious decline, and body functions will become abnormal. Many people cannot accept the reality and will seek medical treatment everywhere to find a way to "cure the disease."

But in fact, this is not a disease, it is just that we are getting old. Medicine can only cure diseases, but not aging. We have to accept our aging.

2. Controllable chronic diseases are not considered diseases. As we age, the elasticity of blood vessels gradually weakens, and blood pressure rises. But we must understand one thing: high blood pressure will not kill a person immediately. Only long-term uncontrolled high blood pressure, which leads to cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, myocardial infarction, heart failure, renal failure and other diseases, will be life-threatening.

As long as you take medicine in time to control blood pressure, you can prevent the occurrence of these diseases. Similarly, when aging causes low metabolic function, high blood lipids and high blood sugar, as long as you take medicine in time to control it, no serious complications will occur.

Therefore, for the elderly, the "three highs" chronic diseases are not real diseases. As long as they are well controlled, they are healthy people and it will not affect their quality of life.

3. Prevention of common diseases 1. Prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases: Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are the leading cause of death among the elderly, but it is not difficult to prevent diseases. Maintain a healthy lifestyle, control salt intake between 3 and 6 grams per day, avoid high-fat and high-sugar diets, eat more vegetables, avoid smoking and drinking, maintain regular exercise, and maintain emotional stability.

If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, or other "three highs", you need to use medication under the guidance of a doctor to control the corresponding indicators. Keep blood pressure below 140/90 mmHg; glycosylated hemoglobin below 6.5%; and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in blood lipids below 2.6 mmol/L.

2. Prevent Alzheimer's disease: It is normal for the elderly to have reduced neurological activity and memory loss. Don't worry too much, but beware of Alzheimer's disease. The mechanism of Alzheimer's disease is not yet fully understood. It may be related to multiple factors such as disease, environment, psychology, and poisoning. Pay attention to intellectual training and emotional conditioning to prevent its occurrence.

It is recommended that people over 60 years old participate in more social activities, such as volunteering, participating in community services, attending senior citizen universities, etc. Do not be out of touch with society, communicate more with others, and cultivate your own hobbies, which can stimulate the vitality of brain cells and slow down the aging of the brain.

3. Prevent osteoporosis: People over 60 years old may experience body bone pain and hunchback, which is largely due to osteoporosis. This is because aging can lead to reduced calcium absorption and increased bone calcium loss, especially for women after menopause, who are more likely to suffer from osteoporosis.

In terms of diet, we should choose more foods high in calcium, such as dairy products and soy products, drink less carbonated beverages, and do more outdoor activities and get more sun exposure. Under the sun, human skin can synthesize vitamin D, which promotes calcium absorption. People with obvious symptoms of calcium deficiency need to use calcium supplements and drugs to inhibit bone calcium loss under the guidance of a doctor.

4. Prevent constipation: Although constipation is not a very serious disease, it has a great impact on life. Moreover, when you defecate forcefully, the abdominal and chest pressures will increase, which may induce cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents. People over 60 years old have poor digestive function and weak gastrointestinal motility, which may cause anorectal problems. Pay attention to preventing constipation.

Maintaining regular exercise can improve physical fitness and promote gastrointestinal motility; drink more than 2000ml of water every day to avoid dry stools; replace part of the staple food with coarse grains, eat more vegetables and fruits, and ensure the intake of dietary fiber; develop the habit of regular bowel movements every day to prevent constipation.

In summary, aging is a natural law that everyone cannot avoid. After the age of 60, most people's physical functions will decline significantly, and some indicators may be abnormal. However, as long as it can be controlled to normal with medication, it is not a real disease. We must accept our aging and can still have a healthy and happy life through a healthy lifestyle and the help of medication.

Medicines should be used under the guidance of a doctor. If you have any questions about the use of medicines, please consult a doctor or pharmacist. I am pharmacist Huazi. Welcome to follow me and share more health knowledge.
