The key to rescue of myocardial infarction is "timeliness". When a myocardial infarction occurs, pay attention to these 4 manifestations

As the winter solstice approaches, northern China is about to enter the "Nine Cold Days". When the temperature drops suddenly, cardiovascular diseases are more likely to occur. Recently, the hospital has admitted several patients with myocardial infarction every day. Some of them were successfully rescued, while others could not be saved.

The success rate of rescue after myocardial infarction is closely related to the time of seeking medical treatment. Most patients mistake the symptoms of myocardial infarction for other diseases, delaying medical treatment and missing the opportunity for rescue.

1. The key to rescue of myocardial infarction lies in "timeliness"

There was a case in which a patient suffered a sudden myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest during an electrocardiogram in the hospital. The medical staff on the scene immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and successfully performed thrombolytic therapy within 30 minutes. When the patient was discharged from the hospital, his heart function was basically "unharmed."

In another case, the patient arrived at the hospital after suffering chest pain for about an hour and was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction. The doctor recommended interventional stenting, but the patient and his wife did not trust the doctor, thinking that the hospital recommended stenting in order to "charge more money" and insisted on calling a relative who was "wise" to make the decision. It took more than an hour to get through, but at this time the patient's condition suddenly worsened, and he developed Adams-Stokes syndrome and eventually died.

Myocardial infarction refers to the blockage of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart, resulting in blood supply interruption, myocardial cell necrosis, and affecting the heart's pumping function.

There are two reasons for coronary artery blockage. One is the rupture of atherosclerotic plaques, which induces platelet aggregation to form a thrombus; the other is the severe contraction and spasm of the coronary artery, causing occlusion of the lumen.

After a heart attack, as long as the blood vessels can be reopened in time, myocardial cells can be rescued and serious damage can be avoided. The shorter the time for blood vessel reopening, the better. The success rate of rescue is higher within 2 hours. The longer the time, the worse the prognosis.

2. Symptoms of Myocardial Infarction

1. Chest pain: The typical symptom of myocardial infarction is chest pain. It manifests as squeezing pain in the chest and precordial area. The pain has no fixed point and is roughly the size of a palm. It may be accompanied by shortness of breath, a feeling of suffocation, and profuse sweating. If this pain is relieved within 15 minutes, it may be stable angina pectoris; if it lasts for more than 15 minutes, it is likely to be myocardial infarction.

2. Pain in other parts: It should be noted that some people's chest pain is not typical, but radiates to other parts of the body, such as pain in the left shoulder, left arm, left fingers, back, abdomen, neck, jaw, etc., and even toothache. If pain in these parts occurs when you are tired, you should also be alert and beware of myocardial infarction.

3. Dyspnea: Some patients, especially the elderly, are not sensitive to pain, but they may experience dyspnea, breathlessness, and shortness of breath. If you always experience breathlessness when you are tired, or if you experience dyspnea accompanied by profuse sweating and a feeling of impending death, you may also have a myocardial infarction.

4. Tight throat: Some patients with myocardial infarction may suddenly feel a tight throat, as if someone is pinching their necks and they can’t breathe. This usually happens after exertion. If the pain is relieved after resting for more than 15 minutes, be alert to the possibility of myocardial infarction.

3. Further diagnosis

Myocardial infarction When symptoms of suspected myocardial infarction occur, it may also be an angina attack. The usual way to distinguish is to take nitroglycerin sublingually and rest for 15 minutes. If the symptoms are relieved, it is angina pectoris. If the symptoms are not relieved, it may be myocardial infarction. However, the best way to confirm the diagnosis is to do an electrocardiogram immediately to determine whether it is ordinary angina pectoris or myocardial infarction.

If the electrocardiogram shows severe myocardial ischemia, it is very likely a myocardial infarction and you need to call 120 for rescue immediately without wasting 15 minutes of observation time.

Middle-aged and elderly people who smoke or have chronic diseases are at risk of cardiovascular disease. They can prepare a portable electrocardiogram monitor, which may save their lives at a critical moment.

To sum up, winter is a season prone to cardiovascular diseases due to low temperature stimulation. Middle-aged and elderly people should beware of myocardial infarction. Remember the symptoms of myocardial infarction, be more vigilant, and seek medical treatment in time. Most myocardial infarctions can be treated. People at risk of cardiovascular disease should take medication regularly under the guidance of a doctor to prevent myocardial infarction.
