If your eyes feel "tired", it is actually reminding you...

Dry eyes, sore eyes, swollen eyes,

As I read the book, it became a series.

I could barely read it and found the words were even in pairs.

The doctor said there was nothing wrong with my eyes.

But I really can’t express how miserable I am…

For modern people who feel abandoned by the world when their mobile phones are not with them, the biggest pain is not their wallets, but their eyes. When their eyes have problems, such as soreness, swelling, or even blurred vision, they want to use all kinds of tricks to relieve the pain: eye drops, eye masks, eye protection lamps, but they still can't put down all kinds of large and small screens in their hands and hearts...

Visual fatigue is a symptom, not an independent eye disease. It is a group of symptoms caused by excessive use of the eyes, such as visual impairment, eye discomfort or systemic symptoms, which make it impossible to use the eyes normally. When your eyes feel "tired", it is actually a reminder that your eyes have been overused. Find the reasons in your life and remember to take good care of them!

Eyes are tired

To put it bluntly, visual fatigue is actually a kind of "sub-health" state of vision. It is also called video terminal syndrome. Its occurrence is closely related to the external environment, personal physique and personal lifestyle. For most people who do not have eye diseases and psychological abnormalities, visual fatigue is caused by environmental factors, including:

Work at close range in dim light.

The work object is too detailed and the background contrast is not enough.

The printed fonts are too small or blurry, and the book paper is gray.

The surrounding environment is too dark, and the object being stared at is too bright and dazzling.

Of course, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia, latent strabismus, eye muscle imbalance, etc. may cause your eyes to over-adjust in order to see things clearly, causing improper use or excessive tension of the inner and outer muscles of the eyes. These may also be the internal causes of visual fatigue.

If you use electronic products for more than 3 hours a day on average, there is a 10% chance that you will experience various symptoms of visual fatigue. Teenagers and students, white-collar workers, drivers, scientific researchers, middle-aged and elderly people, and people who need to use their eyes carefully for their jobs are all "high-risk groups" for visual fatigue.

Eyes are "sick"

Many people tend to confuse visual fatigue with dry eye syndrome. Dry eye syndrome is a general term for eye discomfort caused by decreased tear film stability. Common symptoms include visual fatigue, foreign body sensation, dryness, and some patients may also experience burning sensation, eye swelling, eye pain, photophobia, red eyes, etc.

Prolonged use of computers and mobile phones, long-term driving, reading, etc., will cause the eyes to concentrate highly, the number of blinks will decrease, and the tear film will not be formed in time, which will induce dry eyes.

Dry climate and long stays in air-conditioned or heated rooms can cause tears to evaporate too quickly and easily lead to dry eyes.

As the saying goes, "nine out of ten old people have dry eyes", aging is a major factor in dry eyes. Certain systemic diseases or eye diseases may also be the culprit for dry eyes.

Dry eye is not just caused by temporary fatigue, it must be taken seriously and intervened as soon as possible. Otherwise, delaying the disease can lead to filamentary keratitis, corneal epithelial keratinization, and in severe cases, it can also cause ocular surface inflammation, corneal ulcers, and even blindness.

Eye protection tips

It is recommended that you start from life, work, diet, exercise, sleep and other aspects to reduce the burden on your eyes, and pay special attention not to be "kidnapped" by large or small screens! Pay attention to eye hygiene in daily life, and do a good job of daily eye care and self-care. Do not use computers or mobile phones excessively, especially for those who like to hide in bed and use their phones late at night. Their eyes have already sounded the alarm. It is recommended to relax and rest for a while after watching the phone or computer for about 30 minutes.

The daily eye problems of "workaholics" are dark circles, red bloodshot eyes, and eye pain. The simplest and most direct way to relieve them is to stop using your eyes and have a good rest. In daily work, please keep the working environment humidity good. You can use a humidifier and use the air conditioner less. Put a glass of water or a pot of aquatic plants in the room. You can do eye exercises 1 to 2 times a day to help relieve visual fatigue.

A reasonable diet can help maintain your eyes to a certain extent. The process of seeing requires the participation of vitamin A, and the conduction of the optic nerve requires the help of B vitamins. You can eat more green leafy vegetables, milk, egg yolks, mushrooms, carrots, sweet potatoes, animal livers, shrimps and crabs, etc., and try to eat less sugar.

Studies have shown that outdoor exercise can effectively prevent eye fatigue. You can take advantage of exercise to give your eyes a rest and relax your mood. If children maintain more than 2 hours of outdoor activities in the sun every day, or more than 10 hours a week, they can effectively prevent myopia. If it is inconvenient to go out for activities, you can look out from the balcony and relax your eyes. You can do a set of eye exercises, slowly move your eyeballs in four directions, up, down, left, and right, or do eye massages frequently.

If staying up late is a common occurrence for you, and you stay up late repeatedly during holidays, then your eyes will collapse before your body collapses. Long-term dryness and discomfort in the eyes will increase eye fatigue and even lead to dry eyes. If adults can maintain 7 to 8 hours of sleep a day, they will be more focused, more efficient, have better memory, and even burn fat faster. So, don't stay up late unless necessary.
