I frequently get acne around my nose, and some people even say I have kidney deficiency?

Anyone who has had acne knows that there are many types of acne distribution: full-face type, localized breakout type, and repeated growth type...

Regarding this, there has been a saying that "where the pimples appear means there is a problem with the corresponding organ", such as pimples around the mouth indicate poor gastrointestinal function; pimples on the left face indicate poor liver function, and pimples on the right face indicate lung problems; pimples on the wings of the nose indicate problems with the reproductive system...

A small survey conducted by the editor shows that 44% of people firmly believe in this statement

This statement may sound reasonable at first glance, but in fact I want to pour a bucket of cold water on it - there is no clear relationship between the location of acne and the internal organs.

Since it is a theory of traditional Chinese medicine, let's first look at what traditional Chinese medicine says:

Traditional Chinese medicine does have the saying that the five senses correspond to the five internal organs. A more detailed explanation is that the face is where the qi and blood of the five internal organs gather. When the body is sick, it can often be reflected on the face. For example, patients with liver disease have yellow faces, and patients with kidney disease have black faces.

The claim that acne on the face can reflect the health of internal organs is also based on speculation of this theory, but there is no clinical experiment or data to confirm it. This claim does not exist in the empirical science of traditional Chinese medicine. That is, Chinese medicine diagnosis emphasizes observation, auscultation, questioning, and palpation. The correct consultation process is to combine the four examinations into one. It is impossible to infer internal organ problems by simply observing the face.

Western medicine says: Acne can occur wherever there are sebaceous glands

In Western medicine, acne is a local chronic inflammation of the sebaceous glands of the hair follicles, which is closely related to factors such as excessive sebum secretion, blockage of the sebaceous gland ducts of the hair follicles, bacterial infection and inflammatory response.

Theoretically speaking, acne can occur anywhere there are sebaceous glands. The reason why acne is prone to appear on the face, chest, back, etc. is because the sebaceous glands in these areas are densely populated and secrete vigorously, and it really has nothing to do with the internal organs.

Acne (clinically called acne vulgaris) does not only occur during adolescence. Some people also get acne in their 30s.

Acne occurs during adolescence because boys and girls enter the developmental period, the hormone levels in the body change, the sebaceous glands become more sensitive to androgens, oil secretion is vigorous, causing pores to become clogged, Propionibacterium acnes to infect and multiply, and finally turn into acne.

When you are around 30, hormone levels tend to stabilize. Lucky people can say goodbye to acne, but unlucky people may continue to have acne. This is because in addition to hormone levels, there are many other factors that cause acne:

Increased sebum secretion

People with naturally oily skin secrete more sebum, so they are more likely to get acne than people with dry skin.

Abnormal keratinization of hair follicles

Abnormal keratinization of the sebaceous gland ducts in the hair follicles can cause blockage of the ducts, which prevents sebum from being discharged and causes acne.

Bacterial infection

Propionibacterium acnes is an anaerobic bacterium that exists in hair follicles. It usually does not cause trouble, but once the pores are blocked, it will multiply in large numbers, eventually inducing and aggravating the inflammatory response of acne.

In addition, frequently touching your face with your hands and not regularly washing towels, pillowcases, quilt covers, etc. will also allow bacteria and mites to settle on your face and induce corresponding inflammation.

Can't control my mouth

The ultimate goal of many foodies is to eat oily foods without gaining weight and eat spicy foods without getting acne, but few people are so lucky. High-calorie, high-sugar, and highly irritating foods will cause excessive oil secretion from the skin, increase the chance of acne, or aggravate existing acne.

High mental stress

Severe lack of sleep, emotional disorders, and long-term stress can lead to endocrine disorders, inducing excessive secretion of sebaceous glands, leading to the formation or aggravation of acne.

So, people with these conditions may still be getting acne when they are 40!

Many people think that it is normal to have acne, especially for adolescents, who think it will go away after adolescence. Or some people think that acne is caused by skin care products, so they frequently change skin care products.

Actually, acne can be treated! The editor strongly recommends that you go to a regular hospital's dermatology department for examination and treatment if you have acne! !

Doctors in regular hospitals will recommend appropriate treatment methods based on individual conditions, including topical and oral antibiotics, topical exfoliating drugs, fruit acid peels, photorejuvenation, red and blue light irradiation, etc.

The key point is to not rush to seek medical treatment without any reason. Don’t go to some irregular beauty salons or clinics for treatment. We don’t care whether the disinfection and protection measures are in place. The key point is that it is really a scam. The purpose of various recommended treatment projects is just to make you spend more money! (I have been scammed before, and I spent money but still didn’t get cured!!)

In addition to hospital treatment, it is important to adjust your lifestyle:

🔹Eat less or no sweet, spicy, or greasy food, and drink less coffee;

🔹Quit drinking and smoking;

🔹Don’t stay up late, get enough sleep regularly.

🔹Pay attention to sun protection. Exposure to the sun will aggravate acne inflammation, make it more likely to leave acne marks, and increase skin keratinization to form more acne.

🔹When choosing cosmetics, choose products that are breathable, hydrating and moisturizing. At the same time, use less powdery cosmetics to avoid clogging pores.

Finally, I wish all the beautiful girls and handsome guys who read this article can have a fair and smooth face~
