Is Godzilla actually a monster "blown out" by a nuclear bomb?

Godzilla comes from Japan, Japan in the 1950s.

The appearance of Godzilla can be said to be "blown out" by the United States using a nuclear bomb.

In the plot of the first Godzilla movie, Godzilla became a victim of American hydrogen bomb experiments.

Nuclear radiation woke Godzilla from his slumber in the deep sea. In order to punish humans for using nuclear weapons, Godzilla finally destroyed most of Tokyo's basic urban facilities.

In the 1950s, Japan had just experienced an atomic bomb explosion and had become a defeated country after World War II. The entire country was basically in a state of disrepair.

The Japanese people at that time did not dare to be angry or speak out, because the United States had the atomic bomb at that time.

The United States was not satisfied with the atomic bomb because the atomic bomb's utilization rate of atoms was too low, so they developed the hydrogen bomb, which was more powerful and had a higher utilization rate.

With new nuclear weapons, we naturally need a place to experiment.

The experiment was conducted at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands in the central Pacific Ocean.

"Here I would like to briefly introduce the Marshall Islands. The archipelago was first discovered by the Germans, then occupied by the Spanish, then became a German colony, and later controlled by the Japanese.

It was not until 1945, when Japan was defeated, that the United States took over the Marshall Islands.

When the Marshallese people thought their colonial history was coming to an end, the real disaster had just begun..."

In 1952, the United States successfully developed a new type of nuclear weapon, the hydrogen bomb.

On March 1, 1954, the United States detonated the most powerful nuclear weapon in history, "Castle Bravo", at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Bravo's detonation was equivalent to 15 megatons of TNT, 2.5 times more than expected, and produced radioactive fallout over hundreds of kilometers around the archipelago.

But what does this nuclear bomb test have to do with Japan?

Logically speaking, the people who should be suffering are the residents of the Marshall Islands.

But it really affected Japan...

This nuclear bomb test not only affected humans, but also had a greater impact on marine life.

Because Japan is an island country, most of their food comes from the ocean.

As a result, nuclear-contaminated tuna and other seafood entered Japanese households, causing many Japanese civilians to suffer from acute radiation sickness.

This was a serious incident, as the Japanese viewed it as another "nuclear attack" by the United States on Japanese civilians.

Anti-nuclear weapons movements broke out across the country, and under the influence of this anti-American sentiment, Godzilla was born.

Why Godzilla?

In the final analysis, Japan did not dare to do anything to the United States because the gap in military strength was too huge.

But Japan was unwilling to give in. After much deliberation, it finally decided to target the American monster movie "King Kong".

Since it is targeting the monster King Kong, it also needs a giant beast. Therefore, the famous Japanese special effects director Eiji Tsuburaya designed the image of Godzilla with reference to King Kong.

But if it was just a simple imitation of "King Kong", it would not be able to surpass the United States, so the Japanese added a skill to Godzilla that allows it to move underwater.

This is reflected in the phonetic translation of the movie Godzilla's title, "Gojira," which is a combination of two Japanese words: gorira (gorilla) and kujira (whale).

At that time, Japan could only use Godzilla to accuse the United States of the crime of testing nuclear weapons.

However, there may be no eternal enemies. Just eight years later, Godzilla, who was supposed to be born for anti-American purposes, co-produced a movie "King Kong vs. Godzilla" with the American "King Kong" in 1962.

Of course, there is also the Godzilla series shot by Hollywood in the United States.
