Suspected of using endangered animals to make "delicious food"? How bold! The police have intervened!

Recently, a host filmed a video of eating shark, which received likes from netizens.

Video from Jimu News

However, a popular science blogger said that the shark in the video is suspected to be an internationally endangered wild animal, the man-eating shark, which is also a national second-class protected animal. The anchor is suspected of illegally purchasing and eating a national second-class protected animal.

The science blogger said: Judging from the shark's well-developed caudal peduncle and crescent-shaped caudal fin in the video, the individual is a species of the Mako shark family. There are only three species of this family distributed in Chinese waters. The dark gray body color of the shark in the video can exclude the sharpnose mako shark and the longfin mako shark, so it can be determined that the shark in the video is a juvenile man-eating shark.

As for the statement in the video that this individual comes from artificial breeding, this statement is even more unreliable. Large predatory sharks cannot be commercially bred in artificial environments due to factors such as space and prey. Currently, only small sharks have been tried in China.

The great white shark is a large predatory shark that is listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and is also on my country's National Secondary Protected Animal List.

At the same time, the Great White Shark is listed in the "List of Wild Animals or Their Products for which Trade is Prohibited or Restricted by International Conventions Concluded or Participated by the People's Republic of my country" published by the Endangered Species Import and Export Administration Office of China in March 2017. According to the law, after being caught, whether dead or alive, it must be thrown back into the sea. It is illegal to land, sell or buy Great White Sharks, and there is no artificial breeding of Great White Sharks.

We have contacted the local police to handle this matter. Every animal is a precious life, not a tool to gain attention, and must not be ignored!
