This documentary is called the animal version of "Game of Thrones"

The story begins on an afternoon with rolling thunderclouds.

Mysteriously, in the heart of the African continent, on the banks of the fertile Zambezi River, lies the territory of Queen Tate.

Although she is old, she still rules her tribe. However, although the former glory still exists, Tate's rule is still facing threats at any time -

To the east and south of her territory were territories of foreign races, while to the west was another tribe led by her daughter Heijian.

Although for many years, the mother and daughter have maintained a delicate balance, with the deterioration of the living environment and the approach of modern human civilization, the pressure of survival has made the war between the mother and daughter imminent...

At this point in the story, you might think that this is a story about a primitive tribe that is isolated from human civilization.

It is actually not wrong to think so, because these stories do take place in wild lands beyond human vision, and the protagonists of the stories have their own rules of survival, and all this is just as the title suggests - "Dynasty" .

It tells the story of "human nature" happening in the animal world.

"Dynasties" is produced by the BBC's top documentary team and narrated by Sir David Attenborough, who has participated in countless high-scoring documentaries. With the help of cutting-edge technology, it lurks around animal populations from a bystander's perspective, goes deep into their lives, watches them grow, reproduce, fight, establish their own power, and strive to maintain the survival of themselves and their populations under the tyranny of nature.

The magnificent natural scenery, the unknown corners of the mysterious earth from a subtle perspective, and the story-telling have earned the two seasons of "Dynasty" a high score of 9.1 on IMDb, and 9.3 and 9.5 respectively on Douban, and it is called the animal version of "Game of Thrones."

Under the camera, the animals seem to be actors who have carefully rehearsed according to the basic rules, but this is indeed the omnipresent reality in the ecosystem. Behind the alternation of royal power in the eyes of humans, there is actually cruel survival.

David the Chimpanzee's Battle for Leadership

David is the leader of the chimpanzee group. As the leader, he has the best of everything, but this also makes him constantly subject to provocations from younger and stronger tribesmen - competition for status and mating rights .

However, David is not a lonely king, he has a loyal ally, Clo.

It would humble itself and comb Clo's hair to show its goodwill. Clo would also be willing to act as David's "sword" at critical moments to help David fight off provocateurs.

But this time, David's alliance encountered an unprecedented crisis...

Because three females in the tribe unexpectedly went into heat at the same time, David was attacked by the young men in the tribe.

This was an epic war. Under the BBC's lens, the stagnant air before the conflict broke out and the war for mate selection that was about to break out were no less exciting than any prehistoric war. In the end, the former king fell, and the tribe abandoned it and continued to migrate.

Do you think David's story ends here?

Not even close.

It spent more than a week recovering from its wounds and eating desperately, and finally caught up with the group when it was able to move. It also "bluffed" by relying on its former prestige in the group. In the end, David's "psychological tactics" were a great success, and it regained the throne.

After going through a life-threatening power struggle, David became more cautious, and his "emperor's art" became more sophisticated.

By winning over more loyal male chimpanzees and carefully selecting older members of the tribe as "assistants", its position will be more stable until the next accident occurs.

The parenting life of mountain lion Qiyan

In addition to the bloody and cruel succession of monarchy, there are also more gentle stories under the theme of survival and reproduction.

A female mountain lion perches on a rock in southern Patagonia, Argentina, South America, occupying a prime location on the lakeshore.

It has been a little depressed recently because there are too many kittens at home.

As a single mother, the mountain lion had difficulty raising one or two cubs, but Qiyan gave birth to four at once. These four cubs were a real problem for her, because winter was coming and food supply was insufficient.

There are many large herbivores living on the grasslands of South America. Although the puma, as a top predator, seems to have sufficient "food" reserves, in fact, the probability of successful hunting is only one in ten.

In this situation, Qiyan not only has to cross mountains and rivers every day to hunt animals that are many times larger than itself, but also has to constantly challenge and risk having its intestines kicked by ferocious large herbivores - if it doesn't do this, it will have no milk to feed its children.

Unfortunately, in the first few days, she was almost kicked in the belly by a guanaco (a close relative of the alpaca), or her prey ran away with a "sly smile", leaving her with nothing but a mouthful of fur. Not only that, as a single mother, she also had to be wary of males with bad intentions and females who also came to steal her territory with their cubs. The former would kill her children, and the latter would make them homeless.

In short, the only way to solve problems in the animal world is to resort to violence - fighting. If you can't beat them once, fight them a second time. Female cougars will not hesitate to sacrifice their own lives to protect their cubs.

But putting all that aside, parenting life is actually very interesting. Licking the fur of a litter of furry little things, climbing mountains with the timid little short-legged ones, watching them follow behind with dependence... Just like that, a few months later, life finally saw the light of day. The children grew up gradually, and life finally gave back glory to this hardworking mother. The mountain lion group that Qiyan's family had begun to take shape was extremely efficient when hunting.

However, children always have to grow up and leave their mothers.

Mountain lions are solitary animals, and when their young are capable of hunting independently, their mothers leave them. In a few months, these siblings who grew up in the same litter will each have their own territory, become the overlord of one area, find a suitable mate, and then form their own dynasty.

The scene of Qi Yan looking back is warm yet lonely.

If this story ends here, it would be good, but no one expected that a few months later, it would be another season of lush vegetation, and the adult children would appear in the nearby mountains and fields, while Qiyan, who was captured by the camera, lay comfortably in the sun.

It gave birth again, this time with four babies.

It's a bit tiring.

The cruelty and tenderness of nature

Under the lens of the "Dynasty" crew, nature unfolds to people in a cruel yet tender manner:

You can see that in the polar regions ravaged by wind and snow, male emperor penguins are standing in the wind and snow, keeping watch for the continuation of life.

The elephants in Kenya give birth and migrate together, face danger together, and share food. They are one of the most united animals.

At the same time, there are also bloody changes of dynasties: the tit-for-tat between the motley wolf Ted and the mother and daughter Blacktip. The daughter eventually invaded her mother's territory, but suffered heavy losses when she pursued the victory; the mother was seriously injured but not dead. She kept a low profile for many years and prepared for revenge, but died in the mouth of a lion group.

The queen of the spotted hyena tribe died, and the usurper took power and slaughtered all the orphans of the "previous dynasty". The princess who was supposed to inherit the throne lay dormant for many years and finally took back the power that belonged to her. …

This is the world of animals, the change of dynasties dominated by natural laws, and the most simple concerto of life.

"In this process, they strive to create their own dynasty and pass it down from generation to generation."
