A famous singer has passed away! This type of cancer is usually discovered in the late stages, and it is dangerous if the waist circumference exceeds this number...

Cheng Zhi, a famous tenor singer and first-class actor of the PLA General Political Department Song and Dance Troupe, passed away on March 29, 2023 at the age of 77.

Looking back on Cheng Zhi's career, he has contributed many classic songs, such as "In That Faraway Place" which was once sung in the streets and alleys, as well as representative works such as "Cold Little Hands", "Revolutionary People Are Always Young" and "No One Sleeps Tonight".

Cheng Zhi Performance

Cheng Zhi also trained many outstanding students, including well-known singers such as Yan Weiwen and Liu Bin.

In 2021, Cheng Zhi revealed on the show "Look Who's Here" that he had suffered from acute intestinal obstruction. He had been in good health on weekdays, but he did not expect to suffer a sudden illness later. His condition was once very critical and his intestine had ruptured.

Later, Cheng Zhi underwent two major operations and finally survived. He was hospitalized for two months and lost more than 30 kilograms. Singer Yan Weiwen once revealed that Cheng had tubes all over his body at the time, but fortunately he recovered well after the operation. However, only two years later, Teacher Cheng Zhi died of illness.

This cancer is often found in the late stage

Be alert when "three mores and two pains" appear

In the early stages of colorectal cancer, there are almost no symptoms. Some may just feel abdominal discomfort or bloating, but many people don’t pay much attention to them. If you experience the symptoms of “three excesses and two pains,” you should be alert to colorectal cancer. [1]

The "three mores" refer to: an abnormally increased frequency of bowel movements, an abnormally increased frequency of farting, and a sudden increase in the frequency of bloody stools.

1. Abnormal increase in bowel movement frequency

If you have had unusually frequent bowel movements recently, and have alternating diarrhea and constipation, or if your stool has changed into thin strips or flat strips, you should check your intestines immediately.

2. Abnormal increase in the frequency of farting

If you have been farting unusually frequently recently and it has a pungent odor, you need to be alert to the presence of a tumor.

3. Sudden increase in the frequency of blood in stool

The blood in the stool caused by colorectal cancer is completely different from the bright red blood caused by hemorrhoids. The blood in the stool caused by colorectal cancer is mainly sticky blood stool, blood on one side of the stool, and the patient will also have black stool, which is also a sign of gastrointestinal bleeding.

"Two pains" refer to: abdominal pain and anal pain.

1. Abdominal pain

When cancer causes intestinal obstruction, patients will experience symptoms such as abdominal distension and abdominal pain. The pain is often in the middle and lower abdomen, and the abdominal pain will become more and more obvious, developing from paroxysmal to persistent.

2. Anal pain

If the tumor occurs near the anus, such as a tumor in the rectum, it will cause a feeling of heaviness and pain in the anus, and will also be accompanied by symptoms such as changes in bowel habits and abnormal weight loss.

Prevent and treat colorectal cancer

We must do a good job of "addition and subtraction"

1. Do subtraction

1) Reduce the intake of high-calorie and high-protein foods

The incidence of colorectal cancer is related to the environment and lifestyle, especially the diet. High-protein foods refer to foods that are high in animal protein and fat. We should try to reduce their consumption. We should also reduce the consumption of refined grains, pickled foods, and smoked foods. It is best to stay away from tobacco and alcohol. [2]

2) Lose your beer belly

The "Guidelines for Colorectal Cancer Screening, Early Diagnosis and Treatment in China (2020)" mentions that obesity is a risk factor for colorectal cancer. According to the 2018 WCRF/AICR report, for every 5kg/m2 increase in body mass index (BMI), the risk of colorectal cancer increases by 5%; for every 10cm increase in waist circumference, the risk of colorectal cancer increases by 2%. [3] Therefore, it is important to control weight in a timely manner and stay away from obesity.

3) Get rid of smoking and drinking habits

The Guidelines mention that smoking is a risk factor for colorectal cancer. The World Health Organization's Tobacco-Influenced Body states that smoking can cause more than ten types of cancer, and smokers have a much higher risk of colorectal cancer than non-smokers.

At the same time, the Guidelines state that heavy drinking is a risk factor for colorectal cancer. The 2018 WCRF/AICR report included 10 studies and found that for every 10 grams of daily alcohol consumed, the risk of colorectal cancer increased by 7%. [3] Quit smoking and drinking habits in time!

2. Do addition well

1) Increase the intake of vegetables, fruits and whole grains

The "Guidelines for Screening, Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Colorectal Cancer in China (2020)" points out that the intake of dietary fiber, whole grains and dairy products are protective factors for colorectal cancer. It mentions a lot of research data, such as for every 10-gram increase in daily dietary fiber intake, the risk of colorectal cancer decreases by 9%; for every 90-gram increase in daily whole grain intake, the risk of colorectal cancer decreases by 17%; and dairy product intake is negatively correlated with the risk of colorectal cancer. [3] Among them, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and coarse grains are all good sources of dietary fiber.

2) Increase physical exercise

Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes three times a week. Exercise can significantly reduce the risk of colorectal cancer and can reduce the number of intestinal polyps that are prone to cancer by one-third. People who exercise regularly have a 16% lower risk of developing intestinal polyps and a 30% lower risk of developing larger polyps or cancerous polyps. Exercising three or more times a week for at least 30 minutes each time can help promote a healthy immune system and reduce intestinal inflammation. [2]

3) Increase colonoscopy

An effective way to screen for colorectal cancer is colonoscopy.

For people whose immediate family members have had colorectal cancer, it is recommended that they undergo colonoscopy during their physical examinations starting at age 40. If the colonoscopy does not reveal precancerous lesions such as polyps or ulcerative colitis, it is sufficient to repeat the colonoscopy every 3 to 5 years. It is not necessary to undergo colonoscopy during annual physical examinations. [4]
